You could get those kits where you can mold their hand print, or get her a mothers day ring with his birthstone.

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:
Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about - the pregnancy, the baby. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!
The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.
Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.
Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.
This is a really beautiful poem too!
Women have strengths that amaze us.
They carry children, they carry hardships, they carry burdens but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up for injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without new shoes so their children can have them.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage. Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin!
Women do more than just give birth.
They bring joy and hope.
They give compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have a lot to say and a lot to give.

What every Mom wants:
1) permission to sleep in, be brought breakfast, generally be relieved of normal mommy responsibilities of feeding/cleaning for the day
2) as far as presents go: anything the kids made is wonderful and anything from Dad that reminds us we are more than just "Mommy"

Here's what I did for my husband on his first father's day:
I gathered up a bunch of pictures of my son with his dad and made a book out of them called "Me and My Dad." It starts with "This is a picture of me, my name is _______." "This is my dad, his name is ________." Then I have pictures of them doing things together (i.e. "Here I am sucking on my dad's nose" "Daddy and I like to take naps together." "Here's Daddy teaching me how to golf." etc). I printed the words onto some nice paper I got at Staples (it has an alphabet border), then I taped the pictures onto the pages, and arranged the pages front to back and took them to Staples and had them laminated and bound. The very last page says "Happy Father's Day June ________"
I think any mom would be ecstatic to receive a book like that about her and her son. Total cost was about $40.

Go to the mall with your baby and go to that really expensive guy who takes a picture of the kid and charges you $20 for every item you can think of. Keychains, mouse pads for computer, t-shirts, she'll love any of it. Oh, and you should throw in a gift certificate for her favorite salon or restaurant and offer to babysit while she gets a night or afternoon out. Very thoughtful of you, she is very lucky!

take some pictures of him and put them in a really cute photo album or have a few framed. it also really cute to have him dip his hand in paint and make a hand print on something, like a small canvas ( you can get these at hobby lobby or craft stores) you can write his name age and date on this. i also saw someone do this on a flower pot one time. just buy a really pretty plant or flower and a nice clay pot then have him put hand prints around it you could also do his feet. hope this helps.

A picture of your son (or maybe your wife and son together) in a nice picture frame ... maybe a crystal or china frame.

set him down with construction paper and finger paints (make sure to put newspaper down first!) and let HIM make a present. Sign his name on the back and put the date and his age. She'll keep it forever as the first thing he made for her.
