Well, if I've had more than one mate the problem cannot only be ME. It takes two individuals to make a relationship work and if it fails then it must be both parties fault.
Now I know someone would say, "Well, what about the woman who was abused by her significant other?" Good question. Well, there is something lacking in that mate who did the abusing but there is something lacking also in the woman who is abused. There's a reason she got herself involved in that relationship to begin with.
Any relationship that fails doesn't fail just because of one individual but because of both. It takes two to make it succeed and two for it to fail.
So, in answer to your question: The problem is a 50% split.

Yes, I was the problem.
Not that they didn't have some problems of their own, but I should have known better.

It's hard to say without knowing the situations. You could be one of the factors without being the only factor.

No. My ex was physically & emotionally abusive & my current fiance & I are tremendously happy, so there'll be no more "mates." I made one mistake--I'm glad it was only one.
