I am seriously leaning towards getting one. I have been thinking about it for over year
I'm 15, 5'5, about a size 9 in jeans, and F cups (I'm also spilling out of them) i am way out of proportion! I have to order my bras from the States (I live in Canada) and I just was wondering if someone could answer some of my questions.

What's the minimal age they will consider doing it on a young girl. I know that they don't like doing them on younger girls because if the breasts aren't finished growing it could complicate things. And the whole, if I ever got pregnant I couldn't breast feed thing.
About how much does it cost? I live in Alberta Canada.
Anyone who's gotten one or does them have any advice?
Thanks
I really don't want to be a hunchback at the age of 25.

WOW, I think they would take into consideration you are an F cup (spilling out) and possibly do it this early. I know some girls who have had it done at an early age because of their size.

Discuss it with your physician.

I am in the US, and mine was $8,000, all covered by my health insurance.

This site helped me out a lot with my research and before/after surgery:

Edit: Noticing some of the answers...

Check out http://www.bfar.org about breastfeeding after reduction... it CAN be done!

Nipple sensation can take up to a year to come back, I had my sensation about three months post op.

Final size takes a year as does your scars fading. So do not put the scars into the sunlight till they have turned white, or they will turn permanently red! My scars are barely visible and I had my surgery Feb 2006.

She could have serious health issues due to her heavy breasts. Even the best supporting bra for her could still cause back/neck/shoulder pain and many other issues. When someone is THAT large at such a young age, they take that into consideration.

First and foremost, an individual must be in good health, not have any active diseases or pre-existing medical conditions and must have realistic expectations of the outcome of their surgery. Communication is crucial in reaching one's goals. You must be able to voice your desires to your surgeon if he/she is to understand what your desired results are. You must have good elasticity so that your skin is able to bounce back to its former tightness. Although, if it is a larger area, excess skin removal will be necessary. Discuss your goals with your surgeon so that you may reach an understanding with what can realistically be achieved. As for the minimal age, it's 18, but this is something you have to talk over with a plastic surgeon. Sometimes, when your back is aching and you already have indentations on your shoulders from the breasts weight it can be done earlier.

Your only 15. Get a good bra. Not a sexy one. You don't need a sexy one anyway your only 15. Having surgery on your boobs is out of the question. Any doctor who would do any type of cosmetic surgery on a 15 year old girl should be in jail. Your body is going to change many times as you age. You will be making the biggest mistake of your young life. If your really set on disfiguring your body get a tattoo. Just get it put where nobody can see it. Leave your breast alone. You'll have enough to worry about when that first pimple shows up in the middle of your face.

If you are experiencing pain and back issues, talk to your doctor.

BR also has complications. I would educate yourself on the problems such as losing the ability to breast feed, loss of sensation in your breasts and infection that could lead to disfigurement -- and maybe even on cancer issues.
