Chantix is the newest smoking cessation medication available by prescription. It is unlike all of the other medications on the market because it specifically targets the nicotine receptors in your brain-causes a decrease in cravings and blocks the effect of nicotine as well

it's called WILL POWER ---no pill is effective if all you do is go back to smoking after you are done taking it---even those PATCHES have been found to be not that effective...the only way those things work at all is WILLPOWER and you can have that without a pill. I quit cold turkey 6 months ago----I substituted oranges for cigarettes...which kept my hands busy when all they wanted to do was to hold a cigarette...I think keeping them busy and staying away from others who smoke and NOT allowing it in your home are the key factors to being a successful quiter...if you eat oranges when you want or NEED a cigarette, you won't get fat, it's healthy and as I said, it gives your hand something related to your mouth just as cigarettes used to. Within 5 days, all the cravings for cigarettes were gone and I haven't had one nor do I even WANT one since....oh I forgot to tell you----3 days after I quit, I ended up in the hospital with what APPEARED to be a sudden attack ----I bloated up so much I couldn't fit into my clothes or shoes ... found out I have conjestive heart failure AND pulmonary hypertension (a severe lung disease)....I am terminal so I guess I should have smartened up YEARS and YEARS ago......if you quit, you might see 80.... I'm 56 and PRAYING to make it to 60.....GOOD LUCK QUITTING

A long time ago, my cousin used the nicotine patch and it worked wonders. She did start eating healthfully and exercising which aided in her quiting the nicotine. There are also Nicotine Anonymous 12-step meetings which are peer self-help support groups. And your local hospital(s) may offer a smoking cessation program which typically consists of group counseling and keeping a journal about how one feels in certain situations and looking at possible triggers to using the nicotine to cope. And some health insurances do at least partially pay for such a program so please feel free to call your insurance and ask them about a smoking cessation program and coverage. Counseling may also help you and you may learn some coping skills to hopefully engage in healthier behaviors to deal with day to day situations.

Wellbutrin, Zyban, Budeprion and Buproban(BUPROPION) this is a anti-depressant which has a therapeutic effect that helps you to stop smoking so it is primarily used as an antidepressant and as a smoking cessation aid. As a smoking cessation, Bupropion acts as a nicotinic antagonist which reduces the severity of nicotine carvings and thus then helps you to totally stop.

The main thing is to convince yourself that U need to quit. I had smoked for 39 years and my daughter came along and a few days later the DR. said she was allergic to the smoke and I quit cold turkey. It makes no difference what u use to convenes yourself that it is critical to quit. Good luck
