Yes, the Bible is an attempt to present a spiritual reference firstly for ancient Jews, written by a handful of scholars (Jeremiah, Baruch, Nehemiah and Ezra) and supported by the Persians.
No, the Bible is in no way a factual based document, but an assortment of facts- designed to recreate a history, rather than tell it accurately.
See:
The Supreme Bible of God which provides all the source texts and context for how and why it was written.

No one can prove it but, for the most part, it seems as if most of it may not be true. I don't think it's really that important. Someone made a good point recently that if you believe in God that the Bible isn't a big deal, having a direct connection to God is much more important. You don't need to read a book about it.

The best thing you can do is read it for yourself and check into what has been authenticated through historical documents and archeological finds. Prove the Bible is true to yourself. I believe it is true but that doesn't help you much. Halley's Bible Handbook is a great way to see what has been found archeologically to back up what the Bible states. Good luck in your quest for truth. Your looking in the right place.

Most Christians will tell you it's true because the Bible itself says it's true.
Now on the other hand, let's go by logic and science. Could all that stuff have possibly happened? What about a lot of the stuff that goes against science?

No.
There are a lot of lessons to be learned from that book, for the sake of the world being a better place, but the stories behind them are pure fiction.
People do not come back to life, women were not made from the rib of man, no one can part a sea and walk a bunch of people through it, and the animals that we have on Earth today because Noah took two of each onto a big boat for 40 days.

Yes.
There is a fundamental difference between truth and fact.
It is true that God exists but I cannot prove it.
It is a fact that President Bush said he invaded Iraq because of weapons of mass destruction but it is not true.
Catholics believe that the Bible teaches truth about God but it is not historically factual at all times.
The Bible's primary purpose is to teach us about God and His (or Her) love for us, not to teach history or science.
With love in Christ.

If by true you mean that it conveys the truth, then the answer is yes. Some mistakes may be in it, but nothing that is critical to theology or salvation. The heart of Scripture is Christ, and He is true.
