the rich will continue to get richer and the poor poorer?

Sadly yes, and the sadder part is that those that were at the bottom and made it to the top through hard work will turn a blind eye to the more unfortunate ones. Power corrupts, its as simple as that.

It's not true that the rich get richer and the poor, poorer.

Actually what happens is: the richer get richer and the poor get richer. If you'd like to see that this is true, compare the people at the poverty line today with the people at the poverty line in the 60s. Then compare those folks with the people at the poverty line from the 20s. Then, the 1870s. Then the 1770s. Keep going back in time.

Due to the accumulation of capital (which is only stopped or reversed during "great" destructions, like wars or natural disasters), *everyone* gets wealthier over time. Like John Kennedy observed, all ships lift with the rising tide.

The reason why it sometimes seems like the rich get richer and the poor, poorer, is because sometimes the *disparity* of wealth increases (i.e. the rich get richer faster than the poor do), but this isn't the same thing. Today, even people at the lower economic end (in the US) have toys like Playstations and cellphones; this is nothing compared to the cabbage soup and wood-burning stoves our poorer ancestors had to live on.

'the rich will continue to get richer and the poor poorer' PHENOMENON is 'natural law' (unfortunately) !!!

Fortunately, THE 'natural law' ALSO states that NOTHING will go in ONE direction forever !
(non-linear processes in nature)

Therefore, 'the rich will continue to get richer and the poor poorer' PHENOMENON will EVOLE or REVOLE (depending which direction/aspect you look at it) .

I don't know what will happen in the next 20 years. But I sense that the CRITICAL point (obcence rich/ horrible poor) has been reached!

Then, the 'Paradigm Shift' will be enforced sometime in the next 20 years

Cheers

the rich will get richer,in the U.S. I think, the poor will also get richer. I am no rich man by any means, but I wouldn't call myself poor either. I know that I have excelled my parents and I hope my children excel me. Sadly,in these third world nations,I think they will get poorer and probably eliminated by starvation. In the U.S. tho, even the "poor" do fantastically better than the poor in many countries

Who knows? I make fifty to seventy in tips a night if it's busy. It doesn't bother me. I can afford to go back to school for Sociology and Economics, maybe a few archaeology courses. I can afford good drawing supplies. Doesn't bug me. My real debate is whether or not I'm going to get peach schnapps or red wine this afternoon, and we should have a croquet potluck with a cash prize or gift on Sunday.

Of course. It's always been that way, and always will be that way. The rich are not going to give up the position of privilege, and their ability to take from others without a fight, and unfortunately, they're the only ones who can afford to fight.

That's how nature works. Some people are always going to try harder than others. That's going to create an inequity among the people. As it should. What you get out should be based on what you put in.

There doesn't seem to be a way to stop it...look at the way the government allows oil companies and health insurance companies to make record profits at the expense of people struggling to get by.
