they are Christians, and not a cult, they believe, as other Christians do, but adhere to the old testament more than most protestants do, and this includes the worship of Idols, that they believe Catholics in their worship of Mary, and the different statues, in the Catholic Church.
while I am not a seventh day Adventist, one of my Aunts was. and most of her children are.

I am glad you are asking. There are so many people who do not know or understand who the SDAs are. The majority of things I hear that people have said they have heard about them are usually wrong. The SDA church had several founders one of which was Ellen G. White. She is believed by the SDAs to be a prophet. There are several tests which the Bible gives us to know a true prophet. She passes every one. One of which I find the most interesting is that when a person is in vision they will not breath Daniel 10:15,17. It has been documented and witnessed by many that during her visions, some lasting several hours, that she had a heartbeat, but did not breath the entire time. I think that's so amazing.
Most people say that they are Old Testament worshipers. That is not true. They are worshipers of the entire Bible both Old and New Testament. There are things in the New Testament that could not be understood without the Old Testament. Therefore it is their belief that the whole Bible was inspired by God and that we are to follow all Bible principals from Genesis to Revelation.
They believe that Saturday is the true Sabbath. There is not one text in the Bible that says that the Sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sunday. That's were 7th day comes in.
Adventist means that they believe in the second advent or second coming of Christ.
There is much more. Some of your other answers gave you some great web sites to look up. I suggest you take the time to do that. You will learn alot.
God Bless.

One of the splinter groups that survived the Great Disappointment in 1844, at which time it was expected that Jesus would return.
Of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs of Seventh-Day Adventists (SDAs), most beliefs are common with the majority of Christians. A few are unique (the continuation of the gift of prophecy; Jesus' current mediatorial ministry in the heavenly sanctuary, for example). A mistaken concept is that SDAs are the only Christians who keep the Sabbath. SDAs operate educational (Primary to University), medical and publishing institutions worldwide.
If you visit the following site, you will be able to find out all about SDAs.

In the past 10 years, three things (among others) that this group has been noted for are:
1. The Baby Fay experiment - trying to use a baboon heart to replace the defective one in Baby Fay ( Loma Linda University Medical School) - the baby didn't live more than a few days.
2. Dr. Ben Carson's separation of Siamese twins (and both survived). He had some previous failures but this was the first time that anyone ever successfully separated this type of Siamese twins AND BOTH SURVIVED.
3. The first proton treatment centre for cancer - Loma Linda University School of Medicine.

The 7th day Adventists are a group, born in the 19th century, who, much like the Mormons, have a "latter-day" prophet, Ellen White.
They that she gave the final revelation from God to humanity.
They believe that Saturday is the true Sabbath, and that those who do not worship on Saturday are doomed to hell, pretty much.
They follow many of the Old Testament laws, even though they believe in Jesus, including not eating pork, nor do they eat scavenger animals like shrimp.
They also don't drink caffeine.

First off....Seventh-Day Adventists are nothing like the mormans. SDAs are not a cult. They believe that the 7th day of the week is the Sabbath(Saturday). They also believe in the soon and 2nd coming of Christ(Advent). Adventists beliefs can be found here:
http://www.adventist.org/beliefs/
They also have 28 fundamental beliefs that can be found here: http://www.adventist.org/beliefs/fundamental/index.html
You can find out everything you want to know about Adventists on www.adventist.org there you can get true answers to your questions.
