I have received notices from Yahoo! saying a number of people wish to 'connect' with me.
They apparently want to 'link up'.
I can check their profile and see their other contacts.
What is this exactly?
How does it work?
What's the purpose?

if people wish to connect with you it means they enjoy your Q&A
when they connect , it allows them to see your questions in their contact list
and enables them to answer them if they wish to
they can also see which questions you have starred and may interest them also

It just means you have the option of you wanting to link up with them now and then for chats. Also if you connect with someone you get to answer their questions first, and vice versa. It's a good way to meet other people, to make new friends, and perhaps, learn and share info with others. For me, it is a lot of fun to link up with others, regardless of backgrounds or differences.

Uncle, if people like your answers they will usually "connect" with your name so they can follow the responses you give. I don't have my email address available, so unless you do, I don't think you need to be concerned about anything else.

If you become contacts, you get to know when they star, answer or ask questions. You can easily find them and learn more about them. Also, they will know if you star a question so they will notice it, they can also find out easily.
