I believe this is the heart of the issue. Atheists do not believe faith has any meaningful relationship to the truth, and Christians have not elaborated as to why they believe it does.

Answering for myself, I place my full Faith in something only when I know it to be True. I believe every single word that the Bible says. I have not found, in all my years of study one single mistake within God's Word. The very moment I do, I will abandon my entire belief permanently. I am absolutely convinced that the Bible, and Faith there-in, is Complete Truth. Faith is a comfort, but it is so much more, It is purpose. Faith is not evidence of truth, not literally(though many placing faith into an idea does give it credence) but Faaith stems from the evidence of the Truth in the Word of God seen all around us. God's Word does offer explanation, for most every circumstance, at least that I have ever come across and I have found nothing factual to contradict it.

If someone wants to buy gold, he had better learn about gold and the gold market. Otherwise, he will be easily cheated. Or if someone wants to attend a college, he has to research the qualifications of various universities, their entrance requirements, and so on. So knowledge is certainly an important component , without knowledge of the Absolute Truth, we can easily be cheated.
The analytical study of the nature of spirit and matter, is the subject matter for persons who are inclined to speculate and understand things by experimental knowledge and philosophy. Cristians no even get up to this point. Religion without philosophy is sentiment, or sometimes fanaticism, while philosophy without religion is mental speculation.
In Krishna consciousness you will find the perfect and highest knowledge of Religion and philosophy, and when you are fortunate enough to have this knowledge, then you begging to develop faith, and faith will lead you to deep understanding to who really God is.

Do you know the difference between the Greek words for "faith" and "belief"? Faith has nothing to do with a lack of evidence, or blind acceptance of some concept. Faith is simply the state of being convinced, whether by rational argument, evidence, hearsay, or simple observation.

Faith is the evidence of things not seen (if you see foot prints in the sand (faith) and you follow them, you will find the man. The Lord said "I can heal you (faith).)
all understanding starts with investigation of evidence. You investigate and hold fast to that which is good. The Book of Mormon is a witness that christ is real, but if you don'y read it, you will never know.

I have evidence. I had an NDE (near-death experience) as a skeptical agnostic, went to hell, and came out the other side of the NDE a Christian. It's a radical way to get evidence, and not replicable, so I don't expect that you'll accept it purely on my say-so -- I'm just answering your question.

For me, faith has a lot to do with Truth.

Peace.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith does have alot to do with truth. Where did you get that idea?
Why is posting your web page so important to you? Who are you anyway, never heard of you.

"If faith has nothing to do with truth...."
Except I believe it does.

"Faith isn't evidence."
Neither is skepticism.

"Having 'trust' wont make your belief true."
What makes my belief true or false is whether the object of my belief does or does not correspond with reality.

"The unexplained isn't evidence."
Neither is stringing together a bunch of skeptical statements an argument. :o)

I'm not sure what you mean. My belief is not about comfort, it's about believing that the bible is true. And that is based on my having studied it for ten years. The arguments that you can't prove it to anyone else, that's a valid argument, I think. That's why it's called faith.

Each person has to make up their mind who they believe Jesus to be. I have made up my mind to believe He is who He claimed to be. The future will reveal everything, and I'm a patient person.

Faith is believing what you are told to believe without asking questions. It's wonderful: No need to waste time thinking, studying, questioning etc... You just say: I have faith, God did it. It's the ultimate pleasure for laziness, ignorance, lack of education.
