That all depends on the persons living arangements and enviroment. You don't want to have a small short haired breed in Alaska nor a thick long haired breed in Texas,,,, there are alot of facters that weigh in on this question.....Like do we have or will have kids, can we afford a small or a large dog, long hair or short hair..the cost of the dog,do we live in an apartment or a house......So many situations you cant really say what the best dog is with out narrowing down the living situations.

A best breed for what? There are so many different breeds that are bred for specific purposes such as herding, guarding, hunting and pulling. What are you looking for?
I am sure everyone thinks their own dog is the best breed and they will say because they are loyal, protective and great dogs but those are all just opinions. If you are looking for something specific you need to research.

No such thing as best breed. It's whatever dog suits your lifestyle. For me it's any cross breed from a rescue centre that gets on well with other dogs and children. Cross breeds generally have better health as they do not suffer from genetic problems caused by too much in breeding.. I have a collie x lab, a collie x whippet and a whippet x beagle. All three are gorgeous and the best in the world to me.

Well obviously this is my personal opinion but my 2 favourites are Bearded Collie's and Saluki's. I own 1 of each (as I'm sure you guessed by now) and they are both great but in different ways.
Saluki's are graceful and agile and very affectionate to their owners but very distant with anyone else.
Beardies are bouncy and playful and love everybody.
It depends on your lifestyle. If I had a young child and had to have only 1 dog a Beardie would be better than a Saluki as kids can play rough and Beardie's are OK with that where as if accidentally stood on or anything Saluki's get very upset and sulk (yes dogs can sulk.)
If your looking for a dog you should find some breeds you like and phone breeders of each and discuss your lifestyle and where you live with them to see if that breed would be suitable.

This is a simple question to answer, the best breed is the one who suits you best. Dogs are dogs, and they have been bred to fit personalities and jobs as needed. If you are an outdoor person and love to run and hike then you would want a dog suitable to this type of life style. If you want a lap dog you are going to pick one of the small breeds. So the best Dog is the one you pick to share your life!

The best breed of dog is the one that matches the households lifestyle and sense of authetics.
I suggest you get ahold of the book:
"The Right Dog of You" by Tortora
It is availble in many libarys and contains many questions to help people understand what type of dog will be best for them bases on the grooming needs, sheding tendencies, exercise needs, sociability of the people and breed, etc.

This question has a lot of answers. It can be something different to everyone depending on what you are looking for in a companion. You need to choose a dog based on what you can provide for them and what you want in return. I mean you don't want a Great Dane in a tiny apartment locked up all day. Check the web for breeds and the qualities of them and check your local shelter for info and dogs to adopt. You could find a friend for life I did.

I, personally, believe there is no 'best' breed.
People may answer you with 'POODLE' 'LAB' or 'BASSET HOUND' but it is all their personal preferance.
Same with you.
You may look up all the dog breeds and find the Viszla is the best.
Personally, i have about 10 favorite breeds but thats because of my personal experience and what i like in a dog.
So, whether you are looking into adopting a dog or just wanting to find out what others like, I suggest you do some research on differant dog breeds to find your favorite.

No best breed. It is one that works with you. Meaning when you go to the pet store or go and see puppies and you look at one of them and you know deep down that is the one. I want that one. You couldn't have it any other way. That is your dog and it doesn't matter the breed.

The best breed of dog is the one that is bred to fit your lifestyle. A dog I think is the best may not be the best for you. But to me its the Chihuahua, lovable, cuddly, affectionate and I can bring him almost everywhere including work.
