They can have practically anything except: raisins, grapes, garlic, onion, chocolate, sugar and sweets. It is also advisable not to feed them bones. But they can have the rest, mostly protein but also some carb is OK for dogs, unlike cats.

According to my dog's vet and a dog nutrician book I have, the following recipe is good; brown a pound of ground beef, chicken, venison or turkey, add a cup of brown or white rice or pasta and a can of green beans with their liquid and a cup of beef or chicken broth. Simmer until rice or pasta is cooked and cool, divide into single portions and serve. My Aussie loves this & I will never again feed my dog anything I don't prepare myself. There's lots of other good recipes out there, some with cooked liver or fish. My dog also enjoys scrambled eggs and I make her "cookie" treats from brewer's yeast, flaxseed oil, whole wheat flour & broth. My vet said no garlic or onion. Hope this helps.
