Well Matthew! you're the kind of guy who knows what he wants and how to go about getting it! Let's see!
1. According to the world's scientists, who recently participated in a movie called "An Inconvenient Truth" from the book Al Gore wrote with their co-operation, they seem to think that their kids won't have a planet to grow up in and that within ten years... so if this could be an indication, it would mean that Jesus and his myriad of angels would have to step in before it proved to be too late... As far as the world shakers, they are preaching alongside the remnant of the 144,000 who will rule with Christ as King, obeying the commandment to preach the good news of the kingdom of God ruled by Christ, to all the inhabited earth for a witness to all nations before the end arrives. I even do the best that I can to help in this global endeavor as I firmly believe that it is an absolute matter of life and death as nothing ever was... unlike what we have come to witness until now, this one is permanent.
2. Will many of them be Christians? Well! Since the Christ must be the real indication of what is behind the true meaning of that word, I would think that they would all be called just that even though I doubt that the majority on earth today can even measure up to the true meaning of the word.
3. They will all be Jews in the sense that since the whole world began with one couple and then Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives, it is not only possible that we really are all Jews, but even if you wouldn't agree with that, they will be Gentiles in the flesh but spiritual Jews as Paul reminded us that it is not one circumcised on the outside that was a Jew according to Christ but one circumcised on the inside... the spiritual Jew, which became one by accepting God's true son... and the message of the kingdom of God soon to rule!
4. Do I think we could be of them? The fact is that there is no more "thinking about it" than there is "thinking about the fact that we are either man or woman, male or female, as I truly hope that none would have to wonder or think about which they themselves are. This is how sure the 144,000 are of the position awaiting them in the heavens as soon as they leave here and that they are the ones that the majority of the world thinks will be lifted up and wrongfully imagine as a "rapture" for all the righteous to go to heaven... This being taken into the clouds as it were, only applies to this remnant of them (the remaining ones) who will be instantly transformed into the spirit entity that will be welcomed instantly with Jesus and his Father in the heavens, where no human body can enter but only spirit forms of individuals. So the reason that one will be taken and the other not, is not because of the fact that the one remaining is going to Hell or anything... as the dead, will be dead and it is the birds of the skies that will feast on them as they won't even be buried (I guess there will be too many! which is awful sad, considering we all have the opportunity to make it through with the rest of the ones who have absolute faith in the fact that they will go on living to glorify Jehovah God in peace and will finally reap the benefits of the one Kingdom that will never be brought to ruin... no more taxes, money, nasty jobs, tears, pain and even sorrow and death will be done away with... Jesus did show us on a small scale just how well he was going to do that on a global scale soon when he resurrects all the dead both the righteous and the unrighteous, will be back for an opportunity to taste the true life as opposed to this virtual reality of the things to come we are now experiencing, and call "living". So the answer is that if you have to think about it, then you know you aren't a part of the ones making that heavenly government the Bible calls the little flock but will do what we were born and created to do in the first place and would all still be doing if it weren't for Satan, the father of the lie and god of what's left of this system of things... His time is short and his is furious! Seeking to devour everyone... How he does this is not exactly by having us for dinner as it were but by finding Church leaders everywhere who will feed us at least one good lie to have us worship someone or something other than the true living God (who never was created or died for even one second) in the exclusive worship which He demands in spirit and truth, which is the total opposite of how Satan has managed to con the world of doing as they worship every pagan festivity from way back when the way of God had not yet been made known to us by his only begotten son Jesus, who revealed all that we should know about his Father now recorded in the one and only book on earth claiming divine inspiration 2 Timothy 3:16; from a God who cannot lie Titus 1:2 or 2 Peter 1?20, 21 and Hebrews 6:18.
5. Am I excited? Why! I can hardly sleep thinking about it! Nothing else compares!!! I can't wait for the opportunity to share the coming events with men I have never seen, who have never seen me but who will actually be happy to hear all about it... Imagine the opportunity of coming face to face with Abraham, Moses, Jacob, Joseph, David, Solomon! Ruth, Esther, John the Baptist, etc., and even my grand-parents who will look younger than me... I somehow don't think that they will resent Jehovah's name quite as much as they did when they were blinded by the leaders of Christendom, anymore at all... when they finally realize who it really is that they truly owe everything to... better and more wonderfully than they could ever have imagined. Why! my grand-mothers will finally find it in their hearts to forgive me for not letting them convince me to become the Catholic nun they so wanted me to become, that they made me sign a contract about it when I was just eight years old. Wow!!! Can you believe it??? Of course I am excited! Whether I live or die, I cannot wipe the smile off of my face just thinking about what's coming!!! I can't wait!!! And thank you for this opportunity to share it with at least one person who might appreciate the knowledge of it now as they might look up those scriptures and find out for themselves the holy truth that sets us free from the word of God Himself which they can find (and so can you! in their own Bible!) Yes! I thank you! and take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful day! not just today but everyday until the real day arrives where no one will ever have to hear this again because of the truth that everyday will be better than the last... Just the total opposite of this old system, where we are born full of love and anticipation for a good life which turns more and more sour by the day... until we grow old and in pain... we will then wake up younger and younger and healthier and better every single day!!! What is it that we wouldn't put up with until then? If it was going to ensure us a life in God's new earth?

You need to do some study... the 144,000 will come from the remnant of The Nation of Israel (The Jews). They will be ones who will accept Jesus The Christ as Lord and Master. They will be evangelists and will go out into the world during The Tribulation period and many will come to God through their work. All will be Martyred as will those they bring to God. There will undoubtably be others as well, who will be from those who the evangelists reach, who also will go out and spread The Word... Those of The Church will not be there during The Tribulation. All of those who are of The Church will be called by Christ Jesus to come to Him and be taken from the earth before the actual Tribulation begins...... it is my personal understanding that those who are alive and still on the earth when the Tribulation period begins , and who have previously heard and rejected The True Word, will not be allowed a second chance. Those of the 144,000 being Jews will be ones who have not heard The True Word of God. So they can still come to God... And there are many many millions in the world who also have never heard The Truth of The Word... so many will still be able to be Saved.

They are "spiritual Jews," and many are already IN Heaven on a few thousand of the Spiritual 12 Tribes (12 x 12,000 = 144,000) are still alive. It is these individuals that will be the Princes and Rulers of the Heavenly New Jerusalem, ruling with Christ Jesus over the Earth for the 1,000 year Reign, mentioned in Revelation.

I don't know and in truth, no one else does either. I accept the fact that one day...maybe today...maybe tomorrow...maybe a million years from now, Christ will return. I pray that I am alive to see this but if not, my salvation is already assured so I guess it really doesn't matter. Many of the signs that are foretold in the Bible have come to pass...but they have also "come to pass" many times before depending on who is reading the prophecies. The whole point is that we be ready when the time does come....or when we die...whichever comes first. Only God knows for sure who will be chosen. I believe I am one of them...but who knows. I know he is just and that is what really matters.

The Bible says that only 144,000 men and women have a heavenly hope. They will rule with Jesus as kings, judges, and priests over mankind. They are called "little flock".

Are the 144,000 only natural Jews?

Rev. 7:4-8: “I heard the number of those who were sealed, a hundred and forty-four thousand, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of Israel: . . . Judah . . . Reuben . . . Gad . . . Asher . . . Naphtali . . . Manasseh . . . Simeon . . . Levi . . . Issachar . . . Zebulun . . . Joseph . . . Benjamin.” (These cannot be the tribes of natural Israel because there never was a tribe of Joseph, the tribes of Ephraim and Dan are not included in the list here, and the Levites were set aside for service in connection with the temple but were not reckoned as one of the 12 tribes. See Numbers 1:4-16.)

Rom. 2:28, 29: “He is not a Jew who is one on the outside, nor is circumcision that which is on the outside upon the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one on the inside, and his circumcision is that of the heart by spirit, and not by a written code.”

Gal. 3:26-29: “You are all, in fact, sons of God through your faith in Christ Jesus. . . . There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor freeman, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one person in union with Christ Jesus. Moreover, if you belong to Christ, you are really Abraham’s seed, heirs with reference to a promise.”

Is the number 144,000 merely symbolic?

The answer is indicated by the fact that, after mention of the definite number 144,000, Revelation 7:9 refers to “a great crowd, which no man was able to number.” If the number 144,000 were not literal it would lack meaning as a contrast to the “great crowd.” Viewing the number as literal agrees with Jesus’ statement at Matthew 22:14 regarding the Kingdom of the heavens: “There are many invited, but few chosen.”

The apostle Paul showed that some among humankind could enjoy a special relationship with God. For example, regarding Jehovah’s arrangement whereby those who exercise faith may become members of His household, Paul wrote: “[God] made known to us the sacred secret of his will. It is according to his good pleasure which he purposed in himself for an administration at the full limit of the appointed times, namely, to gather all things together again in the Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth.” (Ephesians 1:9, 10) This “administration” centers on Jesus Christ. Through him, humans are brought into an approved condition before God. A limited number of them have the prospect of being in heaven. Far greater numbers will live on earth forever.

First, starting in Pentecost 33 C.E., attention was given to “the things in the heavens,” that is, those who would be joint heirs with Christ in the heavenly Kingdom. On the basis of their faith in the value of Jesus’ sacrifice, they were declared righteous by God. (Romans 5:1, 2) In time, Jews and Gentiles were included, and “the things in the heavens” would number 144,000. (Galatians 3:26-29; Revelation 14:1) Only a remnant of them are still on earth.

12 and 7 were perfect numbers for Hebrews. 12 equaled the 12 tribes of Israel. 12x12 is 144 which meant something good. 144,000 means something very very very good. It probably means trillions of people.
