My spanish teacher says it is contragate....but I was always taught it was conjugate. Any help?

"Contragate" (written in the same fashion as "Watergate") is sometimes used in reference to the Iran-Contra Affair political scandal - but has nothing to do with verbs - in Spanish you conjugate ("conjugar" verb "conjugación" noun - pronounced "conhoogar" and "conhoogasyon" - In Spain it might be "conhoogathyon" as the "c" there is pronounced like "th")

I've never heard of verb contragation. I'm almost positive that it's conjugation. And since a Google search of the phrase "verb contragation" returns only one result, I'd say it's a safe bet that it doesn't exist. The correct spelling is conjugate.
