Lickety-Split Cajun Boiled Peanuts:
1 day 5 min prep
12 servings
1-2 lb peanuts (in their shells)
water
2-3 tablespoons salt
10 dashes red peppers
1 dash garlic
1 dash soy sauce
1. In a crockpot, put about 2 quarts of water and add the peanuts (in their shells) such that the water just barely covers the peanuts.
2. Add 2-3 tbs salt and 10 dashes of red pepper (more if you like spice) and a dash each (optional) of garlic and soy sauce.
3. Let it all simmer for 24 hours, adding more water when the level gets lower, every so often.
4. The idea is to get the peanuts really soft inside the shells.
5. When ready, serve hot, with an empty bowl nearby for the empty shells.

Boiled Peanuts
INGREDIENTS:
3 cups peanuts, raw and in the shell
6 cups water
2 1/2 teaspoons salt
PREPARATION:
In a large saucepan, bring peanuts (in shell), water, and salt to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes. When peanuts are done, the peanuts should have swollen to fill the pods. The peanuts will be somewhat chewy. Serve hot in the shell.

Boiled Peanuts
5 pounds raw peanuts, in shells
1 cup salt
water to cover
DIRECTIONS
Wash the peanuts and place them in a pot. Add salt and water. Bring the water to a boil.
Let the water boil for 3 hours.
Taste the peanuts, if they are not salty enough for your taste add more salt. If you would like the peanuts to be softer, return the water to boil and cook until they reach the consistency you desire

when boiling peanuts remember this the fresh dug ones are called green peanuts...these are the ones to boil...
fill a large pot with water and toss in a cup or more of regular salt and 5 pounds of peanuts, green is what you need (dry peanuts can boil also but need to be soaked overnight) boil the peanuts for about 2 hours and start checking to see if theys done..... for cajun style peanuts add a cup of powdered zatarains crab boil.... Note:no need to add salt when adding zatarain's seasoned powder crab boil ,it has salt added already

Get your big pot of salted water going. You know the right amount of salt, right? Throw 2-3 cloves of garlic, some dried crushed red pepper or about 3 Tablespoons of Toney's cajun spice. Cook for several hours. Cool in water till you can handle.
