That is because when you are younger you think that you are in some way "invincible." Also you dont have to pay attention to the things that make you un-optimistic.

WOW! the last one must have really "kicked" the hell out of you. Once an optimist always an optimist. Nothing has changed inside of you my dear, only "life and it's lessons", that is what is weighing you down. You haven't come to terms with it yet. Your only 45 - for heaven's sake. Col. Sanders didn't make a name for himself until he was well past 60-years of age!! Start doing some things with your life that make you happy, no matter how ridiculous. Get lots and lots of sunshine (and don't forget the sun screen), even in the winter months use a tanning cream, there are tons of them and they are really safe, and the better your reflection in the mirror, the better you will feel. Get a facial, they are not just for women. Get a really good haircut, and change your look. Spend a couple of $$'s on yourself. It is IN YOU, and the "optimism" is still there... remember this... you can't change the world, but you can change the world around YOU.Now go have a nice cup of tea, put on the Comedy Network and LAUGH!! and remember - the glass IS Half Full!

It is said once you go through a tragedy that you're no longer a child. I am 48 and after getting the wind knocked out of you so many times in life you start to lose your wind. You just got to realize that there is really nothing you can't do with the wisdom you have acquired. You can't always get what you what but you sure can give it it a heck of a try lol!

Like me, the generation of maturity has sunk in and taken over! Don't be dismayed. When we are young, we are 'stupid' basically. We think the sun rises and sets in our eyes and optimism runs rampid. We can do anything! We have hope for everything! Faith is wide open and success is on the horizion. As we live and encounter our own number of failures and disappointments, we find we are more fragile than ever. We forget the dreams and high hopes of a little ant, we allow other people to rain on the marching band and parade that we set up before. We forget to believe that there is good in everyone. We read the newspaper. We watch the news. Nothing but bad news. Nothing but negative information and it finds its way into the creavices of our once bright and brilliant and hopeful minds and begins to scrape and tear at every bit of promise once placed there. We begin to doubt, mistrust, criticize, complain, murmur, think negatively, talk negatively, react negatively, hold our pocketbooks and purses closer to our bodies, avoid eye contact with other people, rush home to our take out dinners and turn on the t.v. to watch more news of killings, hold ups, terriorism, rapes, home invasions. And we lock our doors, once, twice, three times, and we shut our windows from the coole breeze and pull our blinds so we don't feel the sun and we pine away in our woes and sorrows until we die. BUT WAIT!!!!!

You CAN still do anything you want with your career and your relationship - you just have to change your THINKING. As long as you think you can't and that the the youth have the only finger on the pulse of growth and love - you are doomed. Hey! I am 54 - I have a new love 35, bright, optimistic, hard working, generous, inviting, open-wide -dreamer, worker, intentor, exciting, moving in a direction taking me with him. I came alive again. I began to believe in people. I changed my thinking, and I lost weight, renvewed my energy, boosted my mental thinking, began exercising, getting my physical and mental and emotional self uplifted! Love and Career building and success is all in your mind. Loosen up! It is still out there and still available to you - CHANGE YOUR THINKING. You can do it - I promise you - It can happen!!!! I wish you the best!

You may not be able to always get what you want, but then again are those things worth having? Important things like love, a feeling of self worth etc may well be within your reach.
