Hello.

Got my first tattoo booked for Thursday, I am very scared.

I am not a big lover of needles, but I really want one.

Anyone got any ideas on how to keep calm and not rat out of it??

It is on my foot. Anyone had one there?? Is it sore. How sore? Not sore?

Any answers would be great.

first of all i would like to make sure that you know before you get the tattoo that YOU CAN NOT WEAR SHOES OR SOCKS ON YOUR TATTOOED FOOT FOR TWO WEEKS!!!
so many people on here get a tattoo on their foot and THEN ask about it afterward. if you can't go shoeless then don't get one because it will not heal properly and will not look good.

having said that, i have a tattoo on each of my feet and they were by far the most painful tattoos i have ever gotten. take a look at them on my ratemyink (listed in my profile) the healing takes a little longer because your feet have less circulation than the rest of the body. for the first three days you need to keep the foot elevated to reduce swelling. as i said before no shoes, flip flops only.
in my opinion the tattoo was totally painful and took more aftercare than my other tattoos but were totally worth it.
i hope that helped. good luck!

I have a tattoo of a heart on my foot. It does hurt a lot because the top of your foot isn't touched a lot and it has a lot of nerves. I suggest taking deep breaths and most of the time they have reclining chairs to sit back on. Also be careful what kind of sandals you wear after the tat itself is done because I have had some color issues because the scab rubbed off from my shoe.

Welcome to the club! I have one the size of a dime on my foot it's a lady bug, it did not hurt it was more like getting snapped with a rubberband, mine is rite below my4rth toe on the top side of my foot. I have another larger one on my back it is flowers it covers about an 10"X4" area of my back. and last but not least which hurt the most is a stamp of the USDA meat stamp on my right hip, that one hurt! don't know why it's the part that has the most FAT on it. LOL! ps. I'm the other white meat! LOl LOL :0)

good luck to you. i got my first 2 months ago on my calf and it hurt ALOT! I'm interested in getting another sometime soon, in another location to see if it is painful everywhere. My friend got one at the same time on his back between his shoulder blades and didn't seem to hurt at all.
All I can tell you to do to keep calm, is just to try and focus on something else. I didn't know the music that was blaring while I got a tattoo, so I couldn't sing along, so I basically just laid there and sweated out the pain.
Hope yours is a walk in the park compared to my first!

I got my foot tattooed last July... not just something little either... and yes it did hurt, but I found when i sat with my my foot flat against the table it didn't hurt as bad.

Also when I had to wear shoes, I covered it with tattoo goo and gauze and removed the shoes as soon as I could until it was healed.
