Support? That's an understatement--often in history, they were DOING the torturing, mostly to people who either didn't believe in their god or who didn't believe quite in the same god they did.

Crusades, Inquisitions...horrible times to be anything but Christian.

Oh that is...no matter what you believe or where you are from. And yes, I know our country does use torture tactics as do other countries.
