I try not to temper it.. but there are many things that I don't understand yet so I give less of an answer, leaving out details of which I am unsure in my own mind...

I believe there is much more to the Bible than what is actually written there (and the Book of Mormon too) and that when you read something.. perhaps the words are not what is important but what the Holy Ghost reveals to your mind during your reading.

No.
It is important to tell it like the Bible does. Warts and all.
The major religions are guilty of this ploy, even to the extent of accepting women ministers and homosexual priests, in direct violation of scripture.
It does make them popular, but it is not biblically acceptable.
(1 Timothy 2:11-15) Let a woman learn in silence with full submissiveness. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 Also, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and came to be in transgression. 15 However, she will be kept safe through childbearing, provided they continue in faith and love and sanctification along with soundness of mind.

(1 Corinthians 6:9) What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men,

(1 Timothy 1:10) fornicators, men who lie with males, kidnappers, liars, false swearers, and whatever other thing is in opposition to the healthful teaching

I only give unbelievers what I think they can handle. I don't try to shove the whole Bible down their throats.

The message of the Gospel is simple, but some Christians try to complicate things and get into deep doctrinal matters.

I just hope they keep their message to themselves. If I have a question, I'll ask. Otherwise, I don't want to hear any witnessing.

Peg, I truly wish that was the message of ALL Christians.

No i dont. The whole of jehovah's witnesses dont temper their message because god has one set of rules and standards set out in the bible that he wants everyone to live by. There are no favors given to some and not to others. That would be terribly unfair.

I have had to temper it down in the sense that there were a few intemperate words (and terms) that I would have liked to use towards certain members, but would have hardly been the Christian thing to do.
As far as truth goes (at least how I see it), no. A watered-down gospel is no gospel at all.

The message is the same and its about Faith, Grace, Love and Forgiveness. Sometimes I have to talk on a lower level if they ask about concepts that its difficult for those who have never believed to comprehend.

Yes and no.
For example: Q: Why would a loving GOD send me to Hell?
My Answer would be: GOD does not desire to send anyone to Hell. He wants to spend eternity with all his children.
This is an absolute truth but it does not directly answer the question. It would do no good to be brutal in my honestly. The brutal answer would be. You have done everything it takes to be right were you are and if you have chosen to rebel against GOD you will reap what you sow.

I think, as in all situations in life, you should choose your words carefully as to get your point across in a way that will be accepted for what it is.
