For those who say no. I have a question. Why would Jesus be baptized. He said in Matthew 3:14-15:
14: But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15: And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
Jesus was our perfect example. If he had to be baptized then we as common mortals must be too. And for children who die before they are baptized are given the highest kingdom in heaven.

The Bible tells us that we saved by faith but in the Old Testament I can't find a single conversion where the person was not immediately baptised. So by example I believe we should be baptised (and I am) but I don't know that if you weren't God would turn you away. I think belief in Christ and acceptance of Him as your Saviour is enough. Yes. The first message to the church in Acts chapter 2 says repent and be BAPTISED in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

That is how you have your sins removed

And if it is not necessary, why did Peter command the household of Cornelious

Act 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Anything in addition to faith in Jesus Christ as being required for salvation is a works-based salvation. To add ANYTHING to the Gospel is to say that Jesus' death on the cross was not sufficient to purchase our salvation. To say that we must be baptized in order to be saved is to say that we must add our own good works and obedience to Christ's death in order to make it sufficient for salvation. Jesus' death alone paid for our sins (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus' payment for our sins is appropriated to our "account" by faith alone (John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, baptism is an important
Baptismal regeneration is not a Biblical concept. Baptism does not save from sin, but from a bad conscience. Peter clearly taught that baptism was not a ceremonial act of physical purification, but the pledge of a good conscience toward God. Baptism is the symbol of what has already occurred in the heart and life of one who has trusted Christ as Savior (cf. Romans 6:3-5; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12). To make the source of salvation perfectly clear, Peter added, “by the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (cf. 1 Peter 1:3). Baptism is an important step of obedience that every Christian should take. Baptism cannot be a requirement for salvation. To make it such is an attack on the sufficiency of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

sybil I don't think you know much about what Baptist believe. Ever place I have been all Baptists believe it's by the grace of God through faith that salvation come to mankind. Not of WORKs. We believe that we can do nothing, that even the faith me have was given by Him. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward change of our hearts (Our very being). I think that answers the question and corrects you Jim

No, read Eph. 4:30. When you believe in Christ you are spiritually baptized. The thief on the cross believed and was
not baptized and Jesus said, today you will be with me in
paradise. It's for an outward sign, but not necessary.

For God so loved the World that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Baptism is an outward sign that you are saved, but it is not required to get into heaven.

According to Christianity, yes. Although in Catholocism, there is the concept of baptism by fire, where someone essentially dies for the cause of Christianity, without physicially being baptized by water.

Yes, this is why abortions are so bad because its condemning tiny souls to heaven. If anything we should induce an early birth, baptise them then kill them, much more humane.
