I have struggled w/ the 2 mile run for 20 years in the army, even in high school running the 600 meters i would come in last, usually 2,3,4,5 miles i would be in the top 3 to finish of course that was 20 yrs ago LOL i still have the endurance not the speed

try running with weights on your arms and ankles. after a while run without them and your time should be faster.
