Do I need to add plugs (those pin type sockets) to the wires which came with the Bose to connect them to the receiver?

Unfortunately, any receiver you buy will not sound good through Bose speakers, no matter what it costs.

Ditch the Bose's, and look for something from Tannoy, Mission, Kef, Monitor Audio. B&W or Mordaunt-Short, all of which have a vastly superior sound to Bose.

Then check out A/V receivers from Yamaha, Denon or Sony to go with the new speakers - you'll be very pleased that you did...

i would get rid of those bose and buy some real speakers before you worry about a good reciever.
