Most professed Christians know nothing about civility.
I have read many comments in this forum that are honest, well thought out, genuine queries on faith.
Then there are the mindless idiots who believe whatever the televangelist of the moment is screeching.
If all Christians were Chist-like, we would have no war in Iraq, corporate greed would be non-existent, no one would give a hoot about celebrities etc...

Thank-you sybil; although it is far from any one side. I've been wondering the personal affect of having knee-jerk critical things to say at any given moment. How it becomes almost impossible to pull back, and there you are; left out on a limb making yourself look bad.
My rule has become to answer to the best of my ability, any question I chose, and not to chose the rhetorical ones. Meaning, things like the Christianity/homosexuality threads do not get answers from me anymore. It draws out the same response everytime and I don't see what purpose it serves for me to go there. So, if it comes down to me only answering Penquin or the Retard, so be it.
Although, you mention it being a Christian issue, it's really an issue of our programming. And how we respond to the same triggers time and time again, it shows up here. In both the questions and the answers.

I don't think most of the people on this forum are like that in real life, on either side of the coin, religious or not religious. Then anonymous nature of the forum makes for bolder commentary.

You're right, some people really does that, but all type of people make mistakes, even the non-religion-ed people make mistakes, and the only thing to do about this is to forgive the people who have mistaken to us.. because that's a more happier, healthier, fuzzier, funnier, and uhhh... biggier?, thing to do.....

Thank you for saying that.
Good reminder.
Sadly, the writing of something does not always come out as if one said it.
Tone is hard to control in the written word.

Maybe worshiping a drowning, slaughtering, killer God just makes them testy.
