Mosquitoes will bite anything with blood. They are the single source for the spread of heartworm in dogs which is why your veterinarian will recommend at the beginning of spring that you have your dog tested for this parasite and offer you the proper protection for your dog. There are some outdoor sprays available for dogs,(don't use people stuff) but their effectiveness is limited.
By the way they also spread west nile virus, picked up from birds.

Yes, absolutely they bite anything that has blood in it . Dogs get heart worms from an infested mosquito .
I am always searching the literature for scientific evidence whether or not 'Aids" can be transmitted by mosquitoes too. I know, I know, they claim it isn't but time will tell . I hope it can't of course .Just overly worried , I guess .
If the dog goes outside for an extended time just spray repellent on a paper towel and gently wipe him down . It will help .

Yes mosquitos can bite dogs and there is no way to stop them. That is how they contract heartworms. Ur vet can put them on a heartworm preventative. My dogs are takin Interceptor flavortabs to prevent heartworms.

You can't stop them, but if your dog is smooth coated and gets mosquito bites on his face, you can rub an orange peel on your dog's face - it keeps the mosquitos off for a short time. But your dog needs to be tested for heartworm and then put on heartworm preventative.

Yes they can bite our dogs that's how they get heart worms. You should have your dog on one of the heartworm medication all year long. You can get a flea and tick preparation that also repels mosquitoes.
One is Frontline Plus another is K9 Advantix Plus.
