What is your favorite non-fiction book you've read regarding criticisms of religion and god?

I want to buy one but I'm puzzled between few famous books by Dawkins and Sam Harris.

The God Delusion, by Richard Dawkins, is good. It is in plain language and is well written. He's very logical and straightfoward. It talks about the illogic of religion.

I've read Sam Harris', "The End of Faith", which is good but strays a bit at the end. His "Letter to a Christian Nation" is short and to the point, and is highly recommended for religious people who want to know why there is such opposition to religion.

I was always into Sagan. They weren't really about religion primarily, but there is plenty of criticizing thrown in on the side.

I have personally never read Dawkins or Harris. I already know why I think the way I do, and I just think that it would be redundant.

The science in them would be pretty dated now, so they probably are not a great recommendation. But Cosmos is fantastic.

I prefer Harris to Dawkins, just on account of attitude.

You might also consider "Breaking the Spell", by Daniel Dennett. It's a speculation into how religions evolve. Very enlightening.

Thank you for asking this respectfully.

I found a book once called "The History of the War Between Science and Religion" By Whitehead.
Let me look because it think it is out of print.
My memory is terrible!
Here is a link with all the data needed to find a copy of you own.

Like some of the others here I'm not a fan of Dawkins - I fear he has become what he professes to hate.

I've never read a book critiquing religion, just like I've never read a bible. I stay away from both and form my own opinions.
