im not a chubby person, when i had my first tat done on my lower back, the artist had someone there to push down and spread my skin with both hands while he coloured is that normal?
i wasn't moving around or nothing, just relaxed and laying there. took him 2 hours and he was in a peed off mood and swearing at his girlfriend alot.

it's actually the best work on my body, and have never had trouble with it.

that is strange...

but i may understand it... i hate to use this as reference but think of a balloon... if you draw on a balloon then blow it up it looks faded and stretched. if you draw on it while it's stretched then let some air out it looks dark, intricate, delicate and lovely. is your tat very detailed? maybe he wated the lines to turn out smaller than he was inking them. i'm not sure. that's my take on it.

as for him cursing at his woman... VERY unprofessional. sounds kinda scarey to think of someone yelling while putting a needle in my flesh.

Sounds more like he was trying to fill it in more so there would be less touch up's later.

It would also depend on the colours in your Tatt. Some colours don't do as well on skin therefor needing to be stretched so the colour gets everywhere and doesn't fade as quick.

I forgot to mention that if your skin is twitching a lot during the tattoo he may of had someone come stretch the skin so it would twitch less so he wouldn't make a mistake. I was a twitcher - totally unaware of it - but my husband told me that my artist tried to stretch the skin a bit while doing the tatt so I wouldn't twitch as bad.

well i am a chubby person, and i never had someone push down and spread my skin on my lower back. Are you younger? was it your first tattoo? maybe he thought you would move a lot, because it is a very sensitive spot. But i agree that that was very unprofessional of him to be swearing around you. I've had to deal w/unprofessionalism and it has not turned out pretty. Glad it looks okay, though!

Over the years stretching skin takes as much toll on a tattooers body as does the actual tattooing positions. Maybe he was having some issues with that. I know after a long day my stretching hand cramps up rather than my machine hand even though I additionally stretch with that as I work.

maybe he didnt want the tatto to spread as badly when you did stretch to bend or if you did gain weight someday. but if he was peed the whole time and yelling at his girlfriend he doesnt sound very professional. i wouldnt go see him again, and i would probably go see another tatooist just to be sure everything is fine with the work he did...
