What was the first thing you did today when you woke up? For the religious, did you thank God that you were given the chance to live another day? I am religious, and I thank God for everyday that I wake up and for everyday my children wake up. Some people are not so lucky, and I realize this in daily life.

Went to the toilet and took a leak as I do every day. Then I listened to some news on the radio as I do every day. Then I cursed God and the Jews who invented him as I do every day. Well you should after hearing the News.So far I am still alive and cursing. I have a family. My daughter never got into trouble, she is married with two children and has a loving husband who makes a decent living. They live in a different city yet we get together a few times a year apart from the regular phonecalls and cards. I have no money and they do, yet it makes no difference. My daughter and her husband had completely different backgrounds as did I and my wife. We find no reason to thank "God" for anything. We are human beings and we don't know why. So while "God" loving morons worship him and hope not to die I curse him and challenge him to take my life.
Sixty one years old and still going strong.

I am particularly thankful every morning, not only that I am alive since I came very close to death. I give thanks that I am able to walk and move with relatively little pain, four years ago this was nearly impossible. I give thanks for my bed and the roof over my head since I nearly lost both when I could not work. And after giving thanks, I pray for those less fortunate and resolve anew to work to relieve the suffering of others.

Do small things with great love. See and serve the suffering Christ in all people.

I gasp for air and looked at my daughter and said Allhumdolilah and then I got up for Fajr Salat (morning Prayer). And then I washed the chicken coop and fed the chickens, then fed my little Girl her breakfast. Then I washed some blankets out on the patio....all before 7am

I washed, dressed and went out to walk my dog and felt ... lucky and happy. Everything is just dandy in the corner of my Universe. Blessed Be!

I thank God every night and every morning for everything that he has given me and my family. Without him, I cannot get through the day.

I awaken to think to myself, "You have made it to see another day, I am proud of my accomplishments." *smiles*

Much better for the self esteem than to think some non-body creature has seen it in himself to let you live another day.

It is good to know I am responsible for my destiny, not anyone or anything else.

I praise the Lord for every day that I am on this earth with my family. I also thank Him for my home, my job, the calling He's placed on my life and my family.

Well...since you asked.....When I woke up, I prayed that there wouldn't be any self-righteous people on Yahoo wanting everyone else to see that they "privately" thank God so everyone can marvel at what a great and holy person they are. Guess He didn't get that prayer yet, eh? I prefer the Biblical teaching that we are to pray in private and not out on the street where all can see, pretending to be holy....but that's just me.

It is a beautiful thing to have people speak of how holy a person is; it is quite another to have one speak of himself that way.
