I think so. People hold on to symbols of success to make themselves feel good, money, material goods, success in work, having a good social life, academic success or their good looks. But these are all temporary and will not last. Death nullifies everything you value. During life money can't buy lasting and deep happiness, material goods become mundane when you have too much, no job will ever remain so fulfilling that it satisfies every need you will have, friends drift away, die or turn out not to be so close in times of need, academics will never know everything and always find someone who is better than them and of course looks fade. God or spirit is the only thing that can fulfil every need and aspect to a human being. However, religion does often fall short unless true commitment is made.

A lot of people need God.

Their own answers are not working,

nor are Science answers bringing peace.

Religion -preacher man and church - boring, empty.

It is in God though - takes time and work and prayer.
