Will I go straight to Heaven,
Go six feet under and then after years of nothing, wake up again and then go to Heaven,
or become a spirit trapped on earth, and then after years, go to Heaven?

I believe in spirits, and I believe they are trapped on Earth. Could it be that they are just trapped here until 7 years after Judgement Day, and he'll then judge everyone who ever lived?

John 5:28-29..........Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.

Johnn 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
Joh 5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

You have changed the verse, yet you did not understand. You have lack of understanding of what you are reading.

It means that you should not be surprised when time comes that all who were dead, can hear the voice of Jesus Christ. And those who have done good things
will be resurrected and those who have done wrong things will be resurrected for the judgment.

There are more texts in the New Testament about what happens when we die. I haven't studied the issue, so these are just things
I've picked up....so I may be very incorrect in many ways.
You need to do some research perhaps and find all the passages relating to the afterlife.

I think Paul says in some of his epistles that when christians died their spirits go straight to be with the Lord. (Philippians?, 1 & 2Timothy ?, 1 & 2 Thessalonians ? prob)

I'm not quite sure what will happen with all non-christians. Some categories such as the mentally incapable and babies are automatically saved through grace.
It may be that many or all of these Christ-spurning spirits will go down to the pit - a kind of prison - since God's wrath is still on them, as Jesus is the atoning sacrifice.

There is the issue of the Millenium.
Christ will come back with some or all
christians (in resurrected bodies) to rule the Earth in righteousness for 1000 years. This will be when 'the meek inherit the Earth', the glory of God covers the Earth and so on. Christ and the saints will rule the Earth, and cause a period of peace. The presence of God will affect animal-kind as well. Presumably many naturally-born humans at that time will accept Christ as saviour.

Then after that, there will be one last rebellion as Satan is released and fools men once more.

Then there will be a general resurrection so all the dead have bodies again. Then there will be the last judgement. People not in the Lamb's book of life will be judged according to their deeds. A new heaven and earth will be created.

..........................

I did recently read Kenneth Hagin's testimony (in "How you can be led by the Spirit of God", "Understanding the anointing" and "Bible faith study course"). As a teenager he was in bed for several years with a lethal heart condition, making it hard for him to even speak, as he was enfeebled and wasn't expect to live much longer. Eventually he was miraculously healed. But prior to that he had 3 or 4 near-death experiences. Twice his spirit left his body and seemed to 'go down' to a dark and frightful prison, and was being escorted away by a demon, when a voice from far above released him and he came back to his bed. He got frightened and got saved. It happened again, but this time he went up, and met the Lord or an angel, who told him it wasn't his time yet, and he would be healed.
His books show quite a lot of knowledge of supernatural things.

Its hard to tell if what you saw was a human spirit, as demons are into faking things in a major way - to mislead people and so on. Possibly in some cases spirits may linger a while before sheol, but christians are going to go instantly and join the Lord.

Hear some christian witness to supernatural world, and especially of God of course at www.sidroth.org.

When the Bible says a person is “sleeping” in relation to death (Luke 8:52; 1 Corinthians 15:6), it does not mean literal “sleep.” Sleeping is just a way to describe death because a dead body appears to be sleeping. The Bible tells us that the instant you die, you are taken to heaven or Hell based on whether you had received Christ as your Savior or not. For believers, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Philippians 1:23). For unbelievers, death means everlasting punishment in Hell (Luke 16:22-23). The concept of “soul sleep” is not a Biblical doctrine. The moment we die, we face the judgment of God (Hebrews 9:27). Until the resurrection, though, there is currently a temporary heaven “Paradise” (Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 12:4) and Hell “Hades” (Revelation 1:18; 20:13-14).

In a sense, a person’s body is “sleeping” while their soul is in Paradise or Hades. This body is then “awoken” and transformed into the eternal body a person will possess for eternity. These eternal bodies is what we possess for all of eternity, whether we are in heaven or Hell. Those who were in Paradise will be sent to the New Heavens and New Earth (Revelation 21:1). Those who were in Hades will be thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:11-15). These are the final, eternal destinations of all people - based entirely on whether a person had trusted Jesus Christ alone for the salvation of their sins.

The bible says to be absent in the body ,you will be present with the Lord.Everyone will get judged after this life is over- no matter where they are spending eternity. And there are I know of 2 judgments that will take place.
The judgment of the saints ( those who have been born again ) and the judgment of the wicked(those who were not born again).
The judgement of the saints takes palce when the church ( saints ) are Raptured out of the world. They will escape the warth God that will place on the earth.
The judgement of the wicked will take place at the Great White throne ( read revalations).
I don't beleive no one is trapped between to worlds .Your either in one or the other. No is no in between.

John 5:28-29 is believed by the people of God, i.e. the religious people. Even Daniel, the O.T. prophet had prophecied it [Read Daniel 12:1-3].
Actually you must study also John 5:24-26; which is the faith of the Gospel-people. Jesus stated that there is an alternative road to the everlasting life beside the one believed by the religious people. If you believe in Jesus (hence obey every commandment of Jesus), you have moved into eternal life starting in this world, such that you do not face judgment!
Your partaking status of the eternal life can be started this very day, just as the one malefactor who had enjoyed it, starting from the day of the crucifixion [Read Luke 23:39-43]. {The one malefactor will not face judment day!}

Sorry about getting the persons wrong..............

God created man for the earth and the earth for man, that was His purpose.
God spirits were created differently for a different purpose.

Psalm 37:10-11.........And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more;
And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be.

But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth,
And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace

When you die you will become non-existant.
You will become just as you were before you were born.
Nowhere!
That John 5 scripture you quote is about the resurrection.
Resurrection means RE-making.
If our souls keep living (in some spirit realm) then we don't need to be re-made.
Truth is, we just 'wait', as it were in non-existance and when the resurrection starts ......we have another whack at life.

You and Sylvia Browne need to wake up. The Bible, or mediums...pick one! You can't have both. No wonder you're confused.

2 Corinthians 5:6-8

Therefore, being always of good courage, and knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord—for we walk by faith, not by sight—we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. (5:6-8)

In verses 6-8 Paul reached the pinnacle of heavenly anticipation. He looked forward to his new, glorified body, the perfection of heaven, and the eternal fulfillment of God's plan. But beyond all of that was the wonderful reality that death would usher him into the presence of the Lord. Therefore points back to the foundational truths Paul expressed in verses 1-5. On the basis of those truths, Paul was always of good courage in the face of death. His courage was not a temporary feeling or a passing emotion; it was a constant state of mind. He faced death cheerfully, with complete confidence. It was not that he did not love the people in his life, but he loved the Lord more. Life for Paul was a race to finish, a battle to win, a stewardship to discharge. Once the race was over, the battle won, and the stewardship discharged, Paul saw no reason to cling to this life. The only reason for him to remain on earth was to serve God, and he stated his readiness to leave when that service was complete:

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing. (2 Tim 4:6-8)

The reality of life in this world for believers, however, is that while we are at home in the body (living in the flesh) we are absent from the Lord. Believers communicate with the Lord through prayer and study of the Word and have communion with Him through the indwelling Holy Spirit. Yet there is still a sense in which they are separated from God and long for that separation to end. Ps 42:1-2 expresses that desire: "As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; when shall I come and appear before God?" "Whom have I in heaven but You?" the psalmist asked rhetorically. "And besides You, I desire nothing on earth" (Ps 73:25). Paul longed for the day when he would "always be with the Lord" (1 Thess 4:17). That sense of separation caused Abraham to look for "the city . . . whose architect and builder is God" (Heb 11:10) and the Old Testament saints to acknowledge "that they were strangers and exiles on the earth" (Heb 11:13). It is only in heaven that believers will have intimate, unbroken fellowship with God (cf. Rev 21:3-4,22-23; 22:3-4).

Jesus said that those who believe on Him will not see death. Before you realize your eyes have closed, you will be with Him. John 5 refers to a physical body, not a spiritual one.
