You're actually asking two separate questions.

First, no, masturbation is not immoral. It's not harming anybody and it doesn't harm yourself.

Second, sin is an outdated concept. Sin is the idea that there is a universal list of rights and wrongs, but there isn't. The Christian concept of sin derives from what some people thought was right or wrong 2000 years ago. We've evolved since then. We really shouldn't base our morality on people who still thought women inferior and slavery ok.

It is the LOVE of money that's a sin.. not money in and of it's self. I think it is the attitude you take towards it. If it's a healthy blowing off of some tension... not a problem. If it becomes an obsession, then it becomes a problem. Another aspect is the fantasy that occurs while masterbating... and if it tends to become an expectation withint the real experience, then it becomes a problem as well, because the person you're with will never match up. As far as it being a sin... it depends on you. Like when Paul talks about what is right for one person, may not be right for another (when talking about meat that was offered to idols, et al). Guilt about it? hmmm... I don't know.. only if you get busted ... lol

The Bible tells us to avoid even the appearance of sexual immorality (Ephesians 5:3). I do not see how masturbating can pass that particular test. Sometimes a good test for whether something is a sin or not is whether you would be proud to tell others what you had just done. If it is something you would be embarrassed or ashamed about if others found out, it is very likely that it is a sin. Another good test is to determine whether we can honestly, in good conscience, ask God to bless and use the particular activity for His own good purposes. I do not think masturbation qualifies as something we can be "proud" of or can genuinely thank God for.

The Bible teaches us, "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). If there is room for doubt as to whether it pleases God, then it is best to give it up. There is definitely room for doubt in regards to masturbation. "For whatsoever is not of faith is sin" (Romans 14:23). I do not see how, according to the Bible, masturbation could be considered glorifying to God. Further, we need to remember that our bodies, as well as our souls, have been redeemed and belong to God. "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). This great truth should have a real bearing on what we do and where we go with our bodies. So, in light of these principles, I would definitely have to say that masturbation is a sin according to the Bible. I do not believe that masturbation is pleasing to God, avoids the appearance of immorality, or passes the test of God having ownership over our bodies.

The Scripture is strangely silent about this universal issue, while not shy about all sorts of other sexual situations and perversions... in great detail concerning sex with animals, etc. Yet the bible says nothing about masturbation.

Since scripture does not forbid masturbation directly, neither should Christians in general. "Nothing beyond what is written" in terms of how we should help lead others to the Lord is the rule. But since you asked, , i will give you the best answer i can using what we do know from scripture as our guide. We should stick to emphasizing the things God has told us are important, and not be teaching things that the Lord has never expressed His opinion on.

It is not a sin, but an abusive act over your SPIRIT, which is not acceptable to the Lord.
Just like smoking cigarettes, which abuse the BODY which was not 'engineered' to receive smoke (or alcohol, or drugs), masturbating is abusive to one's SPIRIT!
In the long run, the BODY will be destroyed by the smoke (etc.), and the SPIRIT will be destroyed also (in the long run) by the act of masturbation!

It is a private act that should not have to be discussed with anyone. In the old days before the world was populated, the bible did say a man should not spill his seed on the ground. With the population as high as it is nowadays, I doubt it can be considered a sin or immoral.

In the bad old days when religions believed it was their duty to invent rules to control everyone else's life, it probably was, but nowadays not so. I doubt if the religious texts themselves say much about it.

Good question. Lust is a sin, so yes, it can be a sin. But you shouldn't focus on what is sin and what is not. Everyone is born a sinner no matter what. We all need salvation. Once you give your heart to Jesus He becomes your advocate before the Father. Live for Him as best you can but when you sin, don't sweat it.

Anything done in excess is both destructive and therefore a sin.
Realize too that the body has memory and you can destroy the healthy side of procreation. (She'll hate you)

Of course not. That's just what mothers who are tired of cleaning up messy sheets say.
