Jesus understood human nature, all that we are for good and bad, our strengths and failures. I think he would be delighted that we have multicultural societies and that most of us do live together in peace. He would appreciate that we have managed to create laws to enforce equality but that those laws are still necessary. I think he would see much the same in our society as in his days, that the rich take advantage of the poor and the poor will take every and any opportunity to survive, including breaking the law. He wouldn't be surprised that people express themselves in cruel, stupid and self centred ways. I think his biggest disappointment would be in what was done with the records of his own life, how much was edited out, re written to accommodate political or cultural modes and how much of the truth about him we have missed. What a great opportunity thrown to the wind. I don't know what he would make for the modern Christian's who selectively choose what and when to abide by. Love your neighbour and thou shalt not kill was obviously overlooked by one of the most Christian countries in the world America when it came time to go to war in the middle east.

Well if that happened, God new it would, had a reason for the event, and it was God's purpose. Society continues to evolve, some consider it decline, others think we advance. Is the glass half full or half empty?

The "perfect one" already knows about it.
Yes, society is on the decline. More and more people reject God in favor or self worship. Selfishness does not go hand in had with caring about your neighbor...so society suffers over all. The countries where belief in God is minimal have the highest immorality, abortion, suicide etc.

Yes it is a sad world.
But it is also a world of enormous possibility.
Not since the arrival of christianity does the world have the chance to overcome its superstitions and willing ignorance to embrace the possibility that we are responsible for our own future.
See: http://www.ucadia.com for literally hundreds of ideas on how we might evolve to a better planet.
WWJD (What would Jesus do)? He'd probably endorse the glass as being half full...

It seems to happen regularly that someone is accused of murder or attempted murder and they insist that God told them to act. No one believes them, but many people believe similar stories recounted in the Bible. Is this a contradiction? If people believe what the Bible says, shouldn't they at least give the benefit of the doubt to such people today?

He'd reminisce about the "good" ol' days of drowning entire populations, slaughtering newborns, causing plagues, stoning people to death, crucifixions, etc.
