I just read this in an answer:

"because you do not have faith to God and you are Godless man who is doing bad things on earth."

Anyone else find that disturbing?
As an atheist I'm offended. Apparently just because someone is does not believe in God they are automatically a bad person? That's so closed minded.

And let me gues.. everyone does DOES believe in God is a great person? Let me finish with this quote:
"Out of convicted rapists, 57% admitted to reading pornography. 95% admitted to reading the Bible."

Reading the Bible doesn't make you a Christian. It just makes you a reader. And believing in God doesn't make you a Christian, either. The devil believes in God. Good person, bad person or otherwise. Who do you really think gets to judge who's good or bad? You? Me? We have so many biases. God is not biased. He does not grade on a curve. He will judge the living and the dead. And he determines the criteria. Not you. Not me. Our job is to find out what the criteria is. It will determine where we will spend eternity. Eternal nothingness is a myth. There are many dead people, and time and events just keep on passing after they're gone.

Off base somewhat.
The whole deal is this, the doctrine of the nature of man, we know that because of the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, mankind died a spiritual death. Also at that time a physical death began, this is why we now die.
It became our nature, the human nature is that to be sinful.
We are ALL that same way. Some give in to it, some fight it with some method or religious beliefs, some find God through Jesus Christ, which is the only true way.(but that's an argument now isn't it)
I don't have the luxury of reading the entire previous question to see it in the whole context to better answer.
As for your quote with precentages, it's a poor argument if you are trying to prove the Bible causes crimes such as those. Too many questions arise...when was the poll taken, before or after, where was the poll taken, take into account other factors as well, it's loaded however you put it I think.

You know, I really wouldn't pay much attention to people who make comments like that....

Being an Atheist doesn't automatically make you a bad person and being religious doesn't automatically make you a good person...

Being religious myself, it makes me sad that Atheists cannot comprehend God or any form of Higher Power, but I don't judge them to be bad people, who am I to judge??

My father and brother are Atheist but they are two of the nicest people you could ever meet..... they are not religious but they follow basic 'Christian Values' (as my dad puts it) which mean they accept other people for who they are, they are not racist, fascist or whatever, they love everyone as the individuals they are.....live and let live. They don't impose their views on anyone or judge anyone based on their beliefs and I think religious people should do the same.

There is a quote in my religion (Islam) ... "There is no compulsion in religion..." (Qur'an 2:256) and my Atheist father and brother also believe in this quote. It is not for us to force our beliefs on anyone...

I will say one thing though......that quote: "Out of convicted rapists, 57% admitted to reading pornography. 95% admitted to reading the Bible." ...... it doesn't hold much weight either way and heres why.....

95% may have admitted to "reading" the Bible; but thats not the same as "believing" or "following" the Bible.
I am Muslim, I have read the Bible but just reading it doesn't mean I believe it.......you see what I mean? The Bible has no effect on me in just reading it, if I truly believed it I would be a Christian, instead of being a Muslim. So clearly, reading it does not affect my actions

Anyway........thats a whole other issue (Looneys and their crimes based on religious beliefs)

No all atheists are not bad. As a JW, I say you may very well be a well meaning, and good to the best of your ability. I am not particularly disturbed by your lack of faith.

I say this due to the terrible examples you had to have had of so-called "Christian" religions. With the hypocritical disregard of Bible commands for the sake of political and financial expediency, mixing of the truth with ridiculous beliefs, how can any thinking person be blamed for rejecting it?

That doesn't mean to be eternally deaf to the true religion of the Bible. Like yourself, God is an individual of order, sensible, love and justice. What He does makes sense, logical sense. The true worship would be completely logical, fair and balanced. (I felt a shudder of Fox News just then. Sorry!) For instance, God is a title. He has a personal name and his followers would not only know but use that name. In virtually all translations of the Bible at Psalms 83: 18 it is Jehovah. Does that not make sense to you?

No doesn't make you a bad person. Just a person who doesn't know God and have no hope at the end of your life's journey. Being a good person doesn't get no one to Heaven. It's if you have be born again according to the word of God.

Reading the bible don't always change a person.

Yes, that's rather disturbing. I'm a christian, and I want you to know that his view do not represent the views of all Christians. When I read it, I also got the impression that he was implying that you have to have faith in the christian god or you're a bad person. And it is a rather closed minded thought. I believe that you certainly don't have to be a Christian to be a good person.

How out of context are you taking this. What was the question involved. Did it involve morals choices.

And let's take logic a bit further, every Atheist here ADMITS to reading the Bible, hence 95% of the Atheists here are potential rapists, especially if they have a subscription to Playboy.

It is religious morals and philosophy that is supposed to stop you from doing those things.

Friend, as a Christian, I will try to say something, First there is many good atheists, I do have to agree that an atheist is Godless, which means without God in their life, As a Christian for 37 yrs. I have seen them all in this world, I know atheists that did not want to talk to me about God, & yet they will beat around the bush to bring in a Christian question, I worked with a man back in the late 1980's & early 1990's We got along just find, why, because I did not pushed God down his throat, He came down with cancer, & a few days before he died, guess who, he called out of all the people he knew, He called me, for what, For prayer. Yes you have trouble also with religious people, That is just about all they are, religious, But a person that has salvation is a different type of people. Now concerning you calculations, Remember we ALL was lost & in sin, But when we come to know Jesus Christ, our lifes will change, there is things I did when I was a sinner, & I am not proud of it, But it was the blood of Jesus Christ that changed my life.

"Out of convicted rapists, 57% admitted to reading pornography. 95% admitted to reading the Bible."

And their testimony is so reliable, isn't it?

As an athiest you should be more upset by the history of atheism. Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, and many others have caused the deaths of millions.

Hitler justified his fight for the German people and against Jews by using Godly and Biblical reasoning.

I`m not gonna be offended at every crackpot of this planet that uses God in the wrong way. They will have their own judgement at the end of their life. I can only worry about my own relationship with God.
