My husband is in Iraq, and he says the same thing of the Iraqi's that he has met. They don't want our troops to cut and run, they want help. They are a very proud people and it is hard for them. But they are a people who have always been oppressed. It will take time to complete this mission because the Iraqi people need to believe that they can fend off oppressors, dictators and terrorist. Plus they must get over the past, and learn to work together. My husband says that this is beginning to happen, but the terrorist are still trying to pit the different groups against each other. He fears that if our troops pull out too soon there will e a "bloodbath" the likes of which we have not yet seen. Our troops are working as hard and fast as they can to accomplish their goals.
My husband also wishes that people would back off. They are fully capable of doing their job if given a chance. He has volunteered for this and knows what he's getting into, so let him do his job.

Mistake interior the 1st place???? remember 911? ok now we did what we did, suited or incorrect. Did the worldwide think of we would basically take a seat there as quickly as we've been so viciously attacked? They have been so very fortunate....very very fortunate. Did Hussein deny the incorrect doing or did he worsen the placement extra? Did he supply any condolence or grant to help music down the criminals who brought about the phobia? NO. He did no longer. instead, the worldwide information replaced into full of greater terror and him interior the midst of it. properly completed George Bush. You gained the conflict in 3 days, years and years in the past. Now you're able to desire to make a sparkling coverage. Invite the Iranians to control the Iraqis in replace for the heads of the persons who delivered this on the worldwide. supply the Iranians a nuke power station so as that that's inspected via our very own human beings, no longer Russians or French. With little or no attempt, we could pop out of this conflict, or maybe seem good. And do away with that fool female what's her call, Velveta or some thing like that. it is an insult to maximum countries just to have her seem.

Its not wrong. They need to stay there until the new dictatorship gets in complete control. Thats why there was a character like Sadam there in the first place. If the troops are pulled out before the governing power and police force are up to speed there will be a blood bath as you say due to ethnic cleansing between warring tribal communities. So i agree the forces need to stay for some time to come.

Damned if they do - Damned if they don`t.
It`s a sticky situation in Iraq (Afghanistan) I understand your question and feel for some of the Iraqi`s but not the majority.
Our troops are doing a sh1tty job.
The tribes in Iraq it seems will never agree to anything because they all want to be the major tribe/leaders of the country.
It`s been that way for a long time, many years. They simply can not/will not agree with each other.
I can not honestly believe that the Iraq Army/Police/Government (when it is ever up and ready) will be able to enforce any kind of law when the UK/USA pull out totally from Iraq.
They will simply ignore the Police/Government or execute them.
The problems in Iraq will never be resolved for a long, long time. It makes no matter whether the troops leave or not.
It`s time to pull the troops out from a pointless job.

Seems the only people who think it is wrong for us to be in Iraq are the liberals who listen to the mainstream media. I havent talked to anyone in Iraq lately, but i have talked to many people and they all seemed to think we should be there. I will admit, that most of the people ive talked to are conservatives. Most people have no clue as to what security interests we have in Iraq, or in the region. Our service men and women volunteered. They are the true heros. Ask any military person that is there fighting for our interests, what should we do, pull out or stay, and I think you would be surprised at their answer. I had rather rely on the commanders on the ground decisions, than that of our Congress. I question anyones patriotism who protests during war time.

It is not wrong. the United States are the ones who lead the invasion of Iraq. So they shall accept the responsibility of making Iraq a peaceful nation. If the Americans pull out, there will be no one to stop terrorists to bomb Iraq's public places. More will die, there will be no one to stop the sectarian killings and there will be no one to prevent the civil war from happening.

If they held a vote in Iraq about wanting democracy - there would be another huge turnout. Probably a majority of YES votes if they all 'get' what a democracy is.
(to a poster above....)
And I agree with the original poster. If you were to talk with those there - lots want to stay and finish.

There is no quick answer to your question and no quick resolve to the problems in Iraq. The issues are civil now, but we have to take a certain amount of responsibility for that.
We are trying to impose democracy, which in itself is laughable. As surely to impose democracy is not very democratic is it?

I am glad they like us so much. Our troops are however not at their service nor is their purpose preventing genocides in the world. You can't count the number of genocides currently occurring in the world on two hands and no US forces are in any of these areas. US troops belong in the USA unless national defense calls them somewhere else.
