With all the scary recalls going on, lots of people are considering home-cooked meals for their dogs. Some of the best and easiest things you can make are ground hamburger and rice or shredded chicken and rice. If you make a large quantity of it all at once, you can keep it in the fridge and warm it up for each feeding. But don't forget the veggies as well-cooked chopped carrots and green beans are very good for dogs. If you don't have alot of time, you can buy no salt canned beans and carrots and warm them up. Another favorite food is low fat cottage cheese. By the way, all of these foods can help maintain a healthy weight for your dog and keep sensitive stomachs happy as well.

Raw or homemade food is good if you feed a recipe that has been balanced by a vet nutritionist- too many nutrients get left out if you try to do it yourself and it can be time consuming.
If you want a great safe food try Life's Abundance-I feed all four of my dogs and cats food from this site.
The food is holistic-nutrient dense-safe- and all pets here are very healthy and happy. This food is not available in stores and is ordered from the web and delivered right to your door automatically by the autoship date that you choose. Not only is this food fresh, safe and quick to feed it is really healthy for your dogs. Take a look- the web site is very informative with a video clip to watch etc.
Hope this helps you.

I get pet mince from the butchers frozen. It comes with offcuts and stuff. I make up rice or pasta and cooked vegies (never onion as that can kill dogs) I make a big batch every 3 days or so and feed it to my dog. I also feed him homemade biscuits. There are some great recipes on Allrecipies.

Check out the BARF diet for dogs. It's basically raw meat, vegetables and fruit. Very nutritious and healthy for your dog. You do need to research it thoroughly as many human foods are toxic and/or deadly to dogs. http://www.bullwrinkle.com/Assets/Recipes/Recipes.htm shows some really easy recipes to make dog TREATS. Even with the pet food recall, there are still a lot of healthy and safe dog foods available at pet shops. Check out local pet shops for either Canidae, California Natural, Solid Gold or Innova. Neither are or will be recalled and are the healthiest dry dog food available.

Raw meaty bones and organs from a variety of animals. Do some searches for RAW feeding. It is not expensive and easy and very healthy.
