mortgage: it's not one or 2 strands. it's freaking 98%. and also, no one ever said we were descenedents of chimps. i've said it once and i'll say it 1000 times--if you don't understand the basic principles of evolution, keep your mouth shut about it.

Perhaps I've missed other questions/answers on this subject so I apologize if I'm missing the point but I'm wondering what the problem is.

So humans share some huge percentage of their DNA with chimps and lesser percentages with other creatures - whatever the tiny amount of difference at the DNA level may be there is a difference and the consequences of that particular difference are HUGE!

You will never find that DNA will match that of a human to a chimps,, If you think we are ancestors of the Chimps, then the next time you need a blood transfusion, tell the doctor you want blood from a Chimp. & see what happens, a Chimps blood will not mix with a human blood, It will kill you almost instantly. Do not try to deceive us. I read the comments and MOST of them were in favor of it and believed them to be reliable. So then check your attitude, do not make up facts to gain ground in a debate. It belittles you and your point of view. Stick with the truth as it is not as you want it to be. As far as the chimp thing, yes we are close, but one little difference can make a big difference in science. Two parts of hydrogen can be very explosive, add one part oxygen that is needed for that fire to burn and you actually get something to put it out with. MOST Christians did not say anything about comparing humans to chimps so your statement is false and purposefully misleading. Next time, get a permission slip from your parents before you lie to make a point of knowledge.

Why would Christians oppose DNA testing? What does comparing humans to chimps have to do with the question? Why would anyone want to compare humans DNA to that of a chimp?

I'm a Christian and I believe in DNA tests. Compare a human's to a chimp's all you want. It proves the Bible's claim that GOD made the animals in their kind. In other words, in their own species. The species are different and cannot interbreed. Also, humans are separate from the animals.

Again one of the mockers has proven the Bible correct.

Do you know what. We all are made of the same stuff. There is a lot in common between a human and chimps, but that couple of % difference is soooo big that we can fill many books.

You don't have to "believe" in DNA. It just is. Demonstrable and physically within every living thing.

Chimps and other primates (including humans) had a distant predecessor that we all shared. We took divergent paths of evolution and arrived at separate species. Why would anyone argue with that?

Show me just one tiny shred of evidence that any super-natural beings exist and I'll sign up, but until then, I'm an atheist and proud of it.

Simply having one or two similar DNA strand does not qualify us as being descendants of Chimps. If one strand was enough for that then why could it not be possible for Atheists to believe that we all cam from one set of parents, ie Adam and Eve?

Take any DNA test you want and it will show you that chimps DNA does NOT match a human's DNA!!! Proven fact.
