"[From 1980-1989] an estimated 1,492 [...] deaths occurred in the logging industry"

And yes, war is wrong, but when given no choice, to fight one becomes necessary. And as for the United States, it has an all-volunteer military, so the abusive use of troops is nowhere near the scale of, say, Iran, where millions of conscripts were sent to die in human wave attacks in the Iran-Iraq War.
Regardless, war is tragic. So are its root causes.

Let's morn the over 5,000 lumberjacks that die in the U.S. each year so people can have paper, toothpicks, cardboard boxes and homes made of wood.
The U.S. death toll is light with 1/3 dieing from injuries that could have happened in the U.S. More people die in the U.S. from drowning than from getting bombed. Listening to boy bands is probably statistically more dangerous than Iraq. Living in Germany and Italy is. Both those countries had twice the death rate per 1,000 in 2006 than what Iraq had accoring to the online CIA fact book. Statistically the same source says the U.S. and France are also more dangerous than Iraq. Some soldiers came home from Iraq to be shot in the U.S.

If I have to die in Iraq (I was there once already) so that my wife and children aren't attacked by terrorists on US soil, then I don't mind paying the price. One side effect of my trying to save their lives is that I also save the lives of the cowards who think that freedom is not worth fighting for. It doesn't matter that it's our freedom or an Iraqi child's. Freedom is something everyone deserves.

I think we should act like Julius Caesar, take one town at random in the known insurgent zone and slaughter everything alive in it. Repeat until all towns are gone or they behave. 1 American is worth 1 million Iraqs, they should pay in blood for every ied that kills or maims an American.

I like this one 5,000 lumberjacks killed every year. Where do you people come up with this stuff. You all make up statistics and think people to believe you. You all know the war is wrong.
