Basically, the first thing you must do is exercise regularly, about 3-4 times a week, depending on how much weight you want to lose. And then, you must not forget to eat and have some "diet". Some people think that "to diet" is to "not eat at all", and that of course is wrong. You must concentrate on foods that are rich in fiber, antioxidant-rich foods, Vitamin rich foods [that's no. 1!], healthy foods [fruits & vegetables]..
Avoid fatty and oily foods. for adults, you should eat about 6-8 tsps [not everyday ], and concentrate on fruits & vegetables [2-3 servings, about 3 cups a day], then rice, corn, bread, etc. is 5-8 cups/servings a day. Also don't forget water, and you must take it 8-10 glasses a day. That's very important. Hope this helps!

The best way to reduce weight, is to consider if your lifestyle is as it should be. it is strictly necessary to make sure you eat at LEAST 3 meals a day. And try skipping unnecessary fat like potato chips, french fries, sweets, fat meat etc. Pretend you divide your plate in 3 parts: half of it should consist of vegetables, 1/4 of meat, and 1/4 of carbonhydrates like, pasta, bread, etc.. Make sure you eat a healthy beakfast as well, because if you don't, you won't have enough energy to go trough the day. Drink plenty of water, and make sure you exercise at least 30 mins a day, by walking, running, swimming, etc.. The keyword is WILL, and if you keep these simple advises you will soon begin to see results!

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
