Global Warming is the biggest threat to our generation and coming ups to face up. The corporate sector is doing some-some to help as Yahoo! have decide to go carbon neutral by the end of 2007. On another hand there are we, the domestic sector, our homes, small buisnesses and activites.
How can we help to stop or slow down the Global Warming through our daily life? Let do something to stop/slow GLOBAL WARMING from our homes and lives to save Earth!

No one can say for sure what the main cause of global warming is.
Recently Methane gas and not necessarily CO2 has been marked as main culprit.

Methane gas is sent to atmosphere mainly by animals as well as from coal mines. Methane gas from animals can not be controlled but from coalmines it can be utilized in better way.

More dependence on hydro carbons for major industrial activity is also one of main cause. Private cars, the numbers of which is increasing due to affluence of society at large, give out more effluent gases which are choking the cities and earth. If good public transport is provided the number cars plying on streets can be reduced. To curb this, extra charges for cars coming to congested areas has to introduced, like it is being done in Singapore and London to curb the number of cars in Central Business Districts of cities.

Economical use of electrical power will also reduce burning of hydro carbon resources and hence less pollution.

Use of bicycles should be encouraged and for this separate lane should be created and China has good number of cycle users due to separate cyclist lanes. Even in Europe people use bicycles. In India, smaller towns have good number of people who use bicycle because distances are shorter and nuisance of speeding cars and vehicles is lesser.

So there are various ways we all can help.

The task is achievable but difficult.

Political will power of all nations is required to do this.

The problem has to be treated as emergency since now the reports say we have only 8 years to solve the problem or else it will be irreversible and then Catastrophic events may take place and then OUR LOVING MOTHER EARTH may be doomed for disaster.

It is awake up call to us all.

Let us do it now.

It is like Gandhiji,s DO OR DIE call now to all inhabitants of the earth- to help save it due to Global Warming.

You are absolutely right. Global warming/cooling/desertification is/are the biggest threat ever in the billions of years the earth has existed. I mean look at what the Martians are doing, they are not even trying to stop global warming. they just drive there Martian SUVs around all they want, the jerks. And the Venusians, Plutonians and Uranus-ians are all not helping there planets either.

So here is what i have done so far and I hope you will all join me to help save the universe:

1.) I have sold everything i own and given it to green-peas.
2.) I have stopped bathing to conserve water.
3.) I only eat dirt now because even fruits and vegetable are
fertilized with animal byproducts so they add to the global
warming process.
4.) I stay out doors all the time so i don't need AC.
5.) And most recently I found out CO2 is the main cause of
global warming so i have stopped breathing.

I AM NOW CARBON NEUTRAL.

It is feared that in a matter of 8 years the earth's entire eco-systems are likely to break and vast amounts of devastations are in store for us. There is already a prophesy in many Hindu as well as Mayan calculations that from around 2012 AD there may be large scale natural disastors for the Earth. Man has consistantly abused Mother Earth very badly and has to endure the Karma as a consequence. However i hope there may be remedy, if we repent and try to undo many evils which we have been doing all these decades. First and foremost it is essential to stop deforestation, which is making the planet bald. Use of CFC must be banned in all countries. Indiscriminate use of Airconditioners, Refrigerators and spray cans have done considerable damage to the Ozone layer already. Automobile is another area of Pollution where a lot has to change from the existing pattern. Factories in South Asian Countries let out their waste in rivers thereby contributing a major share of pollution in waters. Mass Transport systems must be strictly adopted in all countries. Air Travel must be used only if there is an absolute need and not otherwise. It is believed that the major percentage of harm is being done by the advanced countries such as USA, UK, Canada and Australia, which is leading towards the Global Warming, in which even the less developed nations are also likely to suffer for no fault of theirs.
Roughly 20% of the earth's population is being blamed for the cause of Global Warming, in which the other 80% are asked to suffer. There should be a uniform code of conduct for all the nations to thwart the dangers of Global Warming, which should be immediately implemented. This should come from the UNO level and with adequate supervisory role.

We can't stop global warming. If there were no humans the earth would still be warming. If humans never burned another drop of fuel the earth would continue to warm.

Humans are not the primary cause of climate change. We may be contributing to it but that's hotly debated. Climate cycles are natural. It was warmer in the Medieval period than it is now and people didn't spew much CO2 in the year 1000. Mars is warming, probably because of increased solar activity and it's likely that increased solar activity is the main cause of the current warming on earth.

Since we can't stop global warming the best we can hope for is to slow it down but the amount of greenhouse gasses humans generate is a tiny percentage of the total and has minimal effect on climate compared to natural causes. Some scientists believe that humans have no effect on climate at all.

Global warming is not the emergency that the reporters and politicians would like us to believe. Al Gore's video predicts the sea level will rise 20 feet in a century. The UN IPCC says maybe a foot or two. We're told that the average global temperature has increased a couple degrees in the last century and that is well within the margin of error of that statistic. It is in effect statistical noise.

the main cause of global warming is growing industries and the amount of pollution it causes
and of course the citizens are not far behind. everything that u can see around u is causing global warming in one or the other way.
we can't actualy stop global warming (coz to do it we would have to live like the stoneage people!) but we can surely reduce global warming. As u know global warming is mainly caused by carbon dioxide. and as there r not enough plants to take carbon dioxide for photosynthesis, thast why it has led to an increase in global warming. So, i think, to reduce global warming we should do only one small thing : plant/grow a tree. if everyone of us plants only one tree in a year, then i think global warming would be reduced incredibly.

I agree Global warming seems apparent - but there are many factors causing it - Man's in put is also a natural part of it as we are part of Earth. My fear is we are over-reacting as most of what we do would require our demise to have any worth while change. Perhaps our short history of this period of global warming is just a prelude to a new ice age - then what ever we are trying to do is actually a negative. We can't predict weather let alone a global catastrophe with any accuracy

With this in mine it still pays to be GREEN IT CAN SAVE MONEY AND INFLUENCE WORLD EVENTS Think of using Ethanol - a non mid-east fuel that is replenishable. Think of solar panels - free home energy.

Unfortunately, people like 'Carnac' stand in our way of accomplishing much to stop/slow Global Warming. Because of people like him and their ignorance, whatever contributions that we make will be setback by them being closeminded and driving SUV's. Only drastic changes will stop global warming, but the world moves to slowly to combat the problem. Therefore, we will make no serious headway in the problem until further catastrophes have happened and everyone realizes that it is a problem. We need to cut emissions by 80%, that is not going to happen unless it is a everyone realizes it is a life and death situation. Although everyone can make a small difference, eliminating a couple hundred tons of CO2 from the atmosphere, the best thing to do is write to a politician to enact strict Carbon control laws.

The best way to affect global warming is to control overpopulation. I have already done my part, but unfortunately, very few other people have followed my example.

I became aware of the pending problem when I came of age, back in the 1960's and have live my life accordingly. I even grow much of my own food. However, I feel like a grain of sand compared to the number of people who simply do not care.

Nothing less then drastic can help. We are almost half way to the end of earth.

First & foremost for next ten years the married or unmarried couples should not produce child. No reproduction please. They any way are not going to survive their full life with the pace we are going we are getting closer to End day by day.

All of us working for Emission producing industries should abondon our jobs and start with agriculture.

All of us should go to countryside and plant a trees same in number as that of members in the family no matter how young or old. Visit these trees every week and make arrangements for their growth. Growing more is always a bonus.

Bycott all celebrities as they are the people who are hoarding money, flaunting their stinking attitude of rich and therby influencing the young generation with glamour.

Kick butt the media everytime it comes to the rescue of power hungry heads of states like Mr. Bush for committing what they did on earth doesn't matter if it was Vietnam, Afganistan or Iraq. People of their own country should throw them out of power.

Stop working away from your home so that you can reach your work place by a bycyle. Stop using your car or Bike instead use public transport for your social commitments. This way you would improve on your health and will cut on useless habit of drinking socially excessively and will reduce on late nights.

Your question is fine but your comitment will show from what you personally do

I feel that we can't stop Global Warming. It's too late! The earth will continue to get warmer with the passing years. There's no way to stop it now. We can try by avoiding aerosols, etc.-- we *may slow it a little.
