I don't know for certain in your case, but there are a LOT of dogs who don't like people when they are drunk. I don't know why exactly. Maybe they don't like the smell or whatever, but I've known some very nice dogs to actually bite drunk people.
But more importantly, who cares about the dog? If I were you, I'd worry more about my relationship with my Mom than with the dog.

Animals are very smart. They know things are not right with you there for feel they should keep a low profile. I do believe your mom is right. also if you drink a lot how do you know you didn't hurt the dog even if it was an accident you don't remember everything if your sloshed. Please consider stopping or at least cutting down a lot. so every one can love you better even the dog. Good luck
