Don't forget, that when Jack was 75 years old, he was mugged by two guys in Central Park. He put both guys in the hospital with broken ribs and faces. The guys thought the old man was going to be an easy mark. They didn't even know who Jack Dempsey was. He educated them in short order.

Very few sluggers in history couldn't have achieved the same result with such a lumbering, stationary target as Willard. Jeffries, Louis, Marciano, Liston, Foreman, Frazier and Tyson could all have wreaked identical havok upon poor Jess's anatomy. I shudder to think of what a prime Sonny Liston would have done to him Yecch! Friday the 13th part 9 anyone?

He devastated Jess Willard in 3rounds. From opening bell Willard he no chance. Also Dempsey was the one who came up with the neutral corner rule, but rarely obeyed the rule himself. But overall it was a true beat down.

Dempsey ushered in the modern era of the power punching, agressive slugger. His fight with Williard was very much an old generation of fighting against a new.

Pound for pound Dempsey was definetely one of the best heavyweight boxers ever. It was nonstop action when he stepped in the ring. Its a shame that boxing will never be like that again with stricter rules, fighters with no heart, and less action.
