I don't think there is a tried and trusted method. I would say it's important to always think positive thoughts and to steer clear of negativity, always look for the good in things and remain optimistic. Even when faced with adversity.

you just have to start appreciating the little things, like when you go outside for a walk, appreciate the beauty infront of your eyes. try and enjoy life.....everything that you do.....even the mundain things....praise yourself more often instead of criticising. tell yourself that the things that have gone wrong in your life have been for a reason.......you have learnt from your mistakes.
i generally have a good possitive attitude...i do appreciate the little things.....i smile alot.....and i surround myself with possitive people...this is so important.
i hope this helps a little
p.s you could also read some books...you could try susan jeffers, she has quite a few books. if you go onto amazon and type in her name it will bring up a list of her books

Plan ahead and plan for problems. When people look at how they "dug themselves in a hole" they find they didn't plan ahead. When you plan ahead, you are looking foward instead of dwelling on the past and the "pain" is shorter.

A guy gets stranded in the desert when his car breaks down. He has a cell phone and calls the tow truck driver. Three hours later the tow truck driver shows up and off they go. The guy might be upset it took three hours to get a tow truck to him, but not nearly as upset as the guy that broke down in the desert trying to flag a vehical down that can help him get a hold of a tow truck driver that will take three hours to get to him.
