I don't believe in ghosts of the whoo whoo bed sheet variety, but I have 'felt' the presence of people close to me who have died. Not like a Hollywood haunting, but just had the feeling of their presence in the room. Others have also told me they have experienced something like this.

While I don't believe in a god such as described in the christian bible or other holy books, I do think there is a lot in this universe that is beyond human understanding. Well, beyond MY personal understanding, anyway!

As far as a connection with science, everything is made up of energy, which doesn't 'die' it just changes form and goes somewhere else. Maybe into 'ghosts'?

Ghosts are a figment of your imagination, just like your God, and Fairies, and Dragons, and Pixies, and Elfs, and the Devil, and all the rest of the garbage you "believers" espouse.

How come a Buddhist never sees an image of The Virgin Mary? Go on, explain that, if you can....

The only TRUE things are Santa Claus and Easter Bunny....I know because they BOTH came to me once, when I was little.

Of course not. Most, if not all, atheists reject the whole Platonic Dualistic concept, so the idea of a free-floating 'spirit' is absurd.

The only connection ghosts have with science is in the realm of psychology--determining what motivates otherwise sane people to believe in them...

I don't believe in ghosts because it negates my entire belief of what life is. I admit, though, that I get scared around my house after watching ghost movies! I just don't believe in souls, so I logically can't imagine anything happening to a human after death that their body decomposing and their brain being permanently shut down.

I'm sure very few do - see, atheists just lack belief in any gods; there's no book or anything. We're individuals.

But for most of us (almost all?) don't believe in ghosts, and for the same reason - no evidence whatsoever.

Is an "athesist" a sort of ghost ? Or is it a tribute to religious indoctrination and spelling ?

An athiest by definition is someone who denies the existence of god, however the definition says nothing about ones belief in ghosts or other mythical creatures.

I'll let you know when science proves there's a Ghost. Until then, no I don't believe.

I believe there's an undiscovered scientific explanation for the vast majority of ghost sightings.
