Make sure you have a clear leading of God towards this religion. You might not believe me but I would ask you to consider getting to know Jesus Christ before going into Islam. After you give your life to the true God, those things won't be important to you anymore, they will slowly go away without anybody forcing you, the Holy Spirit leading you from the inside.
God Bless!

Malena,
Although I am Christian, I believe in helping people develope in their own religion as much as possible - for you to be the best Muslim you can.

Why do people try to get their breath smelling like an ashtray or drink till they are not in control of their body and actions? Usually, it is only to get along better with a group of others you will not see for many more years.
After all, the best friends you had at school years ago that changed schools ... how often do you keep in touch with them?
Same with friends you have now 6 to 10 years from now.

DON'T LET SHORT TERM BENIFITS CAUSE LONG TERM PROBLEMS

Use as a test, "What is the worst thing that could happen if I did this?"

(My kids say I lecture them too much, so I'll stop here)

Hi, Malena. Firstly, let's look at what religions are for.
Everyone seems to need to believe in something other than this world we live in - something to look forward to when the body dies. Religions are good at providing that - Gods of all types , sizes and colours are available, even one or two with no manifest features at all.
Religions also provide regulations to control, (or at least modify), the behaviour of people - to create some sort of civilized attitude to one another. They've almost managed to do that over the centuries, but fall well short of perfection in that respect.
So what do you want in a religion? Do you want freedom of thought, freedom of action, and freedom from controlling inhibitions? Or do you want a very strict regime of behaviour, including things you haven't the faintest Idea why they do it, where you stick to without question?
If you want the former, I suggest agnosticism (a= not, Gnostic= knowing), then you can look at all religions from the outside and see what they really do. Or if you want the latter, choose one of the Hebraic fundamental religions, and there are plenty of those.
Or you could do what I do, and take responsibility for your own actions (and that is responsibility for what 'happens ' to you as well), and become a witch. It's hard, but you are the boss.

Hi Malena.....There is NO rule which says you have to follow ANY Religion at all. Get away from it as fast as yu can - run away from all this repression and self-guilt, and burkhas, and stuff. Become your OWN woman, regardless of what "people may think". It has nothing to do with them.

Life your life to the fullest, WITHOUT a Religion..you will find a decent person, and you could have an excellent life with excellent well-educated children.

The worst you can do is accept ANY Religion with all its conflicts and threats of hell, and concepts of God. Its all mythology and has created more wars, more hatred, more repression, more inequality, more suicide bombers, more sexual dysfunction, than ANYTHING else in the world...EVER.

Don't encourage Religion in ANY way, shape or form.

And if you want to have a smoke or drink, or drive a car, or party...go for it! You'll LOVE the world of us non-believers, and guess what? We won't send you to hell for not belieivng.

Hi Malena,

I think a very important question you have to answer is "What is your purpose in having religion?" If you are searching for a religion that allows you to do what you want- you'll find something- but the truth is, it won't lead you to God or salvation.

That being said i can tell you that Christianity is different from other religions in that it's not an invitation to adhere to a bunch of rules- but it is an invitation to have a relationship with God.

Personally i did not come to know Christ until shortly after my 18th birthday so i spent much time: partying, hang out with my Chinese ganster friends, and doing things that were pleasing to me- but were not pleasing to God. When i became a Christian i learned how much God loves me and my love for God helped me to desire the things that God desires more than the things that i desired. This helped me to be rid of some things which were a part of my life- which God didn't want in my life. It took time- it's not like when i became a Christian i automatically stopped cussing or doing many of the things that i did as a Non-Christian- but attending church, making good Christian friends, and reading the Bible changed my life and i can say that it is not a rule- but i make a personal and clear choice to stay away from certain things and i make those choices out of a love for people.

Really the only two rules that Christianity has is: Love God, and Love people. And there are certain freedoms that we like to indulge in which is not loving to God (and often not loving to ourselves- you know that hangover feeling...) and can cause other people to be stumbled.

Anyhow hope that helps. Feel free to email me and let me know if i can help in any way.

Kindly,

Nickster

I know that the Muslim religion follows the Law, and they will be judged by the law. If you live by the faith, you will brought into the Kingdom of God through His Son Jesus Christ, believing he paid the price for your sins on the cross. Christians don't get caught up in the legal issues, and they don't judge others, or at least they are ot suppose to. But God said the Harvest if plentiful, but he workers are few. I Think that you need to re-think being a Christian, it sounds like you really need the Jesus walk. It is a lot easier being a christian. Read the Bible and that will be your best teacher. My best to you!!! Take care.!

Im sorry but I can't understand a religion that doesn't let you live a free happy fun life. All religions have their ups and downs don't get me wrong, but read the article at the drudgereport about a girl who was dating a guy outside her religion and was stoned to death for it. Do you want the choice of who you go out with. Just read the papers in the morning, watch the news, research on your own what each religion believes in. Im happy with mine.

I was born in Cambodia, during the dying down of the Vietnam conflict, but before I knew my culture I gained passage to America. Growing up, I was exposed to Catholicism, Mormanism, and Buddhism. Not being taught a logical good reason, I never saw that I, as a human needed to believe in religion to know that God loves me. I feel it in my heart, when I'm sad, or when i'm confused about life. But I learned that if I believe in myself, fight for myself, praise myself, love myself, I can live a life that any mother, father, god can be proud of. Corny eh? Thats my truth.

Hi,

Yes DRINKING i Islam is extremely a forbidden thing . One should not drink. The only way to stop drinking is to make up your mind. Seek refuge in the total words of Allah. Ask Allah's Help and He will surely Help you.

Partying is ofcourse allowed as long as its not one of those with dances , drinks all around , sex hungry ppl.

Smoking can be said to allowed. However its better to leave it. But since it would be hard for you to leave eveything all at once ...I suggest you should first leave drinking at your top most priority

I pray to Allah The Exalted to help you achieve goodness.

here's a thought: read The God Delusion, realize religion is nonsense, and be freed from it forever.

Islam... that's the one with the book that mentions talking ants.

Nobody can prove any gods, much less a specific god, exist; many people will tell you their god exists but no others, but will never be able to prove it, even if they think so. Some will threaten you with eternal pain or promise eternal joy to get you to believe in their god; these are all stories, created for people who were scared long before we understood the universe. Now we have no more reason for these superstitions.
