revelation 1:1,4,9 and 22:8 specifically identify the author of the book of revelation as the apostle john.. (not john the baptist)

the apostle john, brother of james, son of zebedee, wrote the book of revelation while in exile on the isle of patmos. sometimes he's referred to as john the revelator, the beloved disciple, or saint john. he also wrote the fourth Gospel and the three epistles of john. john the baptist was dead before Jesus was even crucified, as he was beheaded by herod. good question. that confuses a lot of people. there were four other men named john in the new testament besides john the apostle, but john mark (you know, the author of the second Gospel) and john the baptist are the only ones i can think of right now. it seems the name was about as common then as it is now.

No, John the Martyr.
According to Foxe's Book of Martyrs. (p. 13)
He is called the beloved apostle. (as a Zebedee brther)
He was a disciple of John the Baptist and a brother to James the Great, (Matthew 10:2) and one of 3 that Christ communicated his most intimate messages to.
The 7 Churches are his...
Being at Ephesus, and apprehended by the Emperor Dominitan he was sent unto Rome bound to be cast into a pot of boiling oil.
A miracle sent him to the mines and banished him to Patmos.
Where he wrote the Book of Revelation.
He was the only apostle to escape violent death. ( a 1 out of 12 chance)

The Apostle John penned the e book of Revelation at the same time as he develop into on the Isle of Patmos. The writing develop into done ninety six C.E. John the Baptizer were useless for 60 some years at this element. fairly of finding out some unauthorative e book with the help of a few human author, why no longer purely inspect the Bible. with the help of going to men, we would have purely guy's critiques. The Bible warns us about this at a million John 4:a million: " beloved ones, do no longer have self belief each and every inspired expression, yet attempt the inspired expressions to make sure no matter if or not they originate with God, because many pretend prophets have lengthy previous forth into the international." How do we attempt issues? Scripture with Scripture Acts 17: 11 "Now the latter were extra noble-minded than those in Thes·sa·lo·ni?ca, for they received the note with the perfect eagerness of concepts, heavily reading the Scriptures on a daily basis as to if this stuff were so." John the Baptizer lived in the time of an similar time that Jesus did. He develop into born purely months earlier Jesus and he develop into beheaded earlier Jesus develop into killed. at the same time as the Apostle John received the revelation "with the help of Jesus Christ, which God gave him...And he despatched forth his angel and presented it in signs and indications by him to his slave John" Jesus had already ascended to heaven. There are time lines so as that we've even extra reason to have self belief contained in the failings written afore time for our income in the present day. The Bible is the purely position the position you could get the reality, if one tries to regulate it, there is grave risk of the outcomes.

Open a Bible and find out! It was *clearly* written by John, the Beloved, whom Jesus loved (agape), one of the Twelve Apostles. Historically, it was written approximately 95 A.D.

If you knew anything about the Bible (which your question *strongly* indicates you don't!), you would know that John, the Baptist, was put to death by Herod Antipas, son of Herod, the Great, before the Crucifixion of Christ Jesus.

It is the book of "Revelation", not Revelations. It was written by John the apostle, and is the revelation of Christ to him concerning things that have been, things that were at the time, and things to come. It is believed to have been written between 90 and 100 AD, while he was exiled on the island of Patmos.

Dear stonecol,

The author of Revelation is the same author of the gospel of John and 1,2,3 John. He identifies himself as the "disciple whom Jesus loves." and is the same John who Jesus entrusted His mother to at the cross.

This is not the same John as John the Baptist, although many believe that he was a disciple of John the Baptist's.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

It was the apostle John, the brother of James, son of Zebedee, and he died of a natural death. He was not a martyr. Martyrs don't die a natural death.
