I've been running a little survey over the last few weeks. I've been making controversial statements about religion, race, politics and sexual behaviour. And the people on here have stronger feelings about religion than sexuality, stronger feelings about sexuality than race and stronger feelings about race than child abuse. Basically the sexual abuse of a child generates about 17% of the strength of feeling or passion as contradiction to the bible. the people of america are 5 times more likely to stand and defend their faith than stand and defend a child from sexual abuse. They are almost twice as likely to stand and defend their faith as they are to make a stand against racial abuse. hey, somethings wrong somewhere. You guys need to wake up and reassess your priorities. is the bible more important than preventing child molestation, i don't think so and I don't think Jesus would either. Is a black guy less important than a christian? he may be a christian but to you he's black first.

Oh and to Americans blind thoughtless patriotism is way more important than any thing else mentioned above.

Hey Sparky, why an afro American being beaten by some white guys? See, you being a white American can't help but see the black guy as the underdog. What if it was some black guys beating a white guy. Or some chinese blokes beating up a Turk? You've seen yourself as the overlord and you would be doing a generous, benevolent act because of your superiority. It shouldn't matter who's beating who.

Can't contradict your data, even though I feel it is not scientifically rigorous. Hey, just want the 2 points....

Dear serious,
First let me say (not as a Christian) but as a psychology/english major that there are likely many design flaws to your "experiment". And moreover, is there any empirical evidence that you can offer? How do you measure people's feelings. Secondly if you are such a refined researcher, you would know that even if you were to draw a relation between two things- correlation does not imply causality. Your statements actually seem to be very personal generalizations that you have.
When you ask a question like is the Bible more important than preventing child molestation- you have to give it a proper context? If someone i knew was being molested and i was reading my Bible- off course i would put my Bible down and help them.
This is a forum in the religion and spirituality section so off course people come on here and defend their faith. If we were in the "child-care" section - there would be a greater emphasis on protecting children from abuse and other ills.
I am a pastor who teaches the Bible every week- but we also support ministries that aide children who are poor, exploited, and sexually abused. We do a bi-monthly ministry to native Americans where the abuse of women is 5 times higher than the rest of the population. And we also go down to Tijuana quarterly and do clothes drives, etc. My point is your actions speak volumes louder about what you consider is important!
Yes i read my Bible nearly everyday and growing in God is absolutely important in my life. The truth is there are so many social ills and people are personally accountable at the end of the day for how they live their lives. As i shared i care about abused children, women, (that does not mean that i don't care about racism, or animal rights).
My point being that some of your statements are very unfound. Where do you get proof that Christians consider a person's skin color more important than his beliefs? Christianity teaches that there will be people from every tongue, nation, and tribe, and i know many Christians who have given up the comforts of life- to share Jesus with people in a different culture that says a lot more about their beliefs and values and how they value people- than your unfounded statistical analysis...
Kindly,
Nickster

I'd wonder how you would list them, but I already have an idea as to what the bottom would be. What do you want people on here to do? Get angry that a child was mistreated or someone was racially attacked? There is nothing we can do about it besides say a few words to try to make them feel better. If all these things happened all around me, the first thing I would do is save the child, help the person in trouble due to their race, then argue over the bible with the person who stood there and watched me help the others. Since I can't do anything to help the others, I try to help those who misunderstand the bible, those that try to follow it.

Your "survey" is worthless - totally flawed and gives you no useful information - you may just be judging the same people over and over again so it tells you nothing. I have never seen a child on here asking for protection from sexual abuse so fail to see how you can claim that Americans are five times more likely to defend their faith than defend a child. I think you are well meaning and you may have a point (but you also may not), but you should not make up statistics to support your own point of view.

Well, you are talking about people that needs a lot of help. First of all, if you are a true Christian, following Christ and the Bible, you will never be the kind of person you are describing.
Yes!!! The most important thing in life is God and what Jesus did for us at the Cross! If these are your priorities, sexual abuse, child molestation and racial abuse will not be tolerated and you as a Child of God will definitely stand against these things.

It seems to me that you've come to that conclusion from asking questions about the different topics and then waiting to see who comes to yell at you. If I'm correct, then I have found the flaw in your reasoning. The reason why someone is not going to come and argue with you about child abuse is because everyone knows it's wrong. There's no debate. And as you go along in the order of the topics you have listed, there is more debate. Remember, this is Yahoo Answers so it's a special situation where people are not going to address things the same way they would somewhere else.

sick (in the head) or mix up?
bout the same aye?
The bible says to put those who harm children to death.
God created mankind, all races, and said it was good.
Yes this is a sick culture in many ways in different places.
As far as "God first":
Matthew 22:
36-40
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments".
Below is a link to the First Commandment:

Americans are very intelligent and good people overall. I feel offended by your view. If I knew someone hurt a child, they better look out! All people are created equal in America and most Americans are not racist and allow others to have their own beliefs. That is why we are the TOP Country in the World. Because we are eclectic and we have the foresight to allow people the freedom of religion, and the choice to be whatever they can be. What makes you feel so rightous?

Love your little survey, and prima facie it shows a weird tendency.....but if you're gunna do it, do it properly....through a "double blind experiment" or similar, and then get some figures which could be considered reasonably accurate.
You are limited here to people who are switched to a particular page.....for whatever reason they choose, not necessarily because they believe with a vengeance in anything at all. I just turn on the R & S Page because it amuses me to stir up all the Christians. Bearing in mind they prescribe a "God of Love" I have managed to get two "death threats" so far. Good, isn't it?

I really would like to see your data. I would have thought the same as you, religion carries the most charge. I will also venture to say you numbers may change based of where you are posting your question. If you are in the family section you answers may reflect more compassion for children if you get my drift.

Interesting. I ran the same data and overlaid it with statistical records and found that of guys named FATGASH who try to Americanize their name to" Serious dude", 70 % need to be more productive when they are guests in another country,5% need to stop huffing Gasoline fumes, 10% should not have secret affairs with their sister, another 10% have forever offended Allah , and the remaining 5% were tragically born without genitalia.
That shows that a full 100% of strokers name FATGASH need to sprout a brain , stop wasting good air and get the FU(K out of OUR country. Thats a fact brothers and sisters!
