Of course it's necessary, credo baptism is a misinterpretation of scripture and the arguments are nothing but sophistry and squeaky wheels. White papers available at www.reformed.org. Educate yourself and stay away from the "outward expression of inward commitment" crowd. Let them pat themselves on the back for their efforts at meriting Heaven for themselves, I'll have no part of it.

Dear Jestin J,

Infant baptism is a Catholic practice and not a Christian practice.

Baptism is a symbolic ritual where someone who believes in Jesus publicly declares his/her decision to follow Jesus and the church affirms that supports them in that effort.

Baptism is not a necessary rite for a Christian to have salvation. But Jesus himself was baptized and i think sets an example that it's an important step to really say i'm committed and serious about following God. And i agree with you that it's an individual decision and more than that it's an act of obedience (and just showing God that you are serious about following Him). i think many infant or young children baptism can be dangerous because its going through a ceremony that may not be personally meaningful.

For me personally my baptism was a very important day of my life.

Biblical Christianity does not force people to get baptized. It's an individual choice to identify with the death and resurrection of Christ.

Hope that helps.

Kindly,

Nickster

Baptism is the greatest form of child-abuse EVER invented by humanity. How DARE anybody sprinkle a few drops of water on an innocent baby, mumble some incantations and dance a few rituals, then declare that forever more this child will BE a Christian? Give the poor kid a chance to grow up NORMAL !! Would you consider giving the child a few sprinkles and murmuring that forever more he will be Republican? Or perhaps a Democrat?

I don't thiink so !

That is the reason kids grow up to BELIEVE that if they Suicide Bomb themselves they will get 70 "virgins" in heaven.

Consign Religion to the dust-bin of history ! We don't need any of it!

Baptisim of the children was normally not practised by the churches until the child reached an age of 7, however the risk of early death and so on, baptism of the children as babies became common practice in order to give a peace of mind to the parents due to a belief of their kids being stuck in limbo. The limbo of the children refers to children who die who are free of sin but cannot enter heaven due to not being freed from the original sin through baptism.

There are only a few Christian sects that teach infant baptism. It isn't properly supported by the Bible or by the writings of the Apostolic Fathers.

Christianity from a Biblical perspective demands that the person being baptized understand why they are being baptized and believe in God in the first place. If you don't, then you are just getting wet.

Baptism without repentance, is like taking a bath. You only clean the outside and not the inside. Infant Baptism is a doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church, and Mormons, even Baptize the dead!

Religion is mankinds efforts and works to reach God. Christianity is God's effort to reach mankind.

By Grace and Not works.

You can be Baptised at any age. But when I became 8 yrs old, I had my First Holy Communion, you have to be Baptised. When I turned 13, I had Confirmation (renewal of BAPTISMAL vows), you have to be at least 12 years old to be Confirmed. So it's up to you, but earlier, better. I was Baptised 10 days after I was born. My sister was Baptised 3 months after she was born.

Baptism is a decision that is made by a person only after they come into a state of reason. They make a choice by themselves.
Jesus Christ was baptized showing us a what to do.

It sounds like you got messed up with religion somewhere along the line. You need to go to God's Word for direction.><>

2. there are many sentences which contains on sex. And these things can not be in God's book.
There are many sentences against the Science. like in beginning there is written 3rd day has been mads plants and trees and fourth day Sun and Moon. and you know that according to science plants and trees require Sunlight to make teh food.

When people become believers - Christians, then with understanding of what you're doing, it is an act of faith.
I think it should be and is done not long after salvation in most cases.
