do you know where and why the famous invasion strips appeared? it was 'cause of triggerhappy british homeland defenders, who were constantly confusing own Typhoons with feared Fw190.
take it as a fact, the friendly fire attracts a lot of attention, since combat casualties are thanks god low. I don't think the british would have done better avoinding friendly fire if their assets were as large as american.
what is your opinion? serious comments, please, no blahblah"kingdom rulez"blahblah
camouflaging friendly fire incidents is bulls*it, I totally agree. but that is not problem of military but of the media war. sad.

Oh, that's garbage....we are trained on restraint just like the Brits are. The 'fog of war' is just a terrible master. When you have everybody running around wearing uniforms that are similar, it gets to be a little bit confusing. Luckily, the US, has very good unit tracking now. We(and our allies) pop up on the screen as 'blue' forces, everything else shows up as 'red'. Compared to the high degree of lethality on the battlefield today, I'd say that FF incidents are actually quite rare...and especially compared to past conflicts.....

When my father was in Germany during the cold war, during practice the artillery shelled their own tent city killing 10 people. Another practice, a tank barrel smashed the driver into the steering wheel of the half track that my dad was in (the back crew ducked on orders from the sergeant). Also the U.S. shot a Turkey destroyer with a sidewinder missle, I think this decade, during a training excercises.

Mistakes happen (why 56,000 Americans die in car accidents, 5,000+ American lumber jacks die cutting wood and 100,000 Americans die from medical mistakes each year). Liberals would ban garden tool more than protest the fighting in Iraq if they knew how many people die and get injured from those things (hint it's statistically safer to get shot at by an Iraqi than mow the lawn).

Of course some mistakes aren't real mistakes. For instance those red markers don't look like rockets though a thermal sighting system that the A-10s have and the American Apache that killed those British troops in the first gulf war was literally hijacked by an American colonel that was band from flying the Apache because of rank (his rank was too high) and therefore untrained to identify the targets.

americans have always had high rates of freindly fire casualties (no offence)because of the lack of control when it comes to fire power
sure the yanks have the biggest guns and missile in the world but they aren't as heavily trained as the brits to show restraint (even britain like any other country has freindly fire casualties but on a very low scale)
