If you are a soldier, how do you feel about serving with them.

On yahoo answers, it has amazed me the assumptions many people make.

Racist or Ignorant? I ask just because I am curious as to how people would treat a Muslim/ Arab US soldier because my fiance is one.

I must say that I am so happy to see that the answers are positive.

One of the key freedoms the US stands for is the freedom of religion - it is perfectly acceptable to be a muslim in the military, and as we are also very polycultural, it is acceptable to be of Arab extraction. We faced the same delimma in WW2 with both Japanese and German Americans - and we didn't do a very good job of treating them like Americans - not a mistake I would like to repeat.

I served beside a person who grew up in an Arab nation, while I was in Iraq. I've never known a better person! It was a complete honor. He is still serving and is probably the hardest working individual, no he IS the hardest working individual I have ever met.

Being Arab or Muslim might not affect the attitude of a US soldier vis-a-vis the Iraqis.

i am not in the wars,I would be,But we are losing too many sons, husbands, friends, in a war for people that do not like us , will turn on us when we have fixed their problems, and i thank god that none of my six sons are over there fighting for someone other then us and ours.Come home boys cause this is not our war and we are O K at home.Never trust a man or women that can help to hurt us. all people that are not AMERICAN should go home till we figure out where we stand.

First, anyone can be Muslim, so unless they told you, you wouldn't neccessarily know. If they're an Arab American who has decided to enlist, he's obviously made up his mind as to which side he's on.
Frankly, I find this question disgustingly ignorant. We allowed German Americans and Japanese Americans to fight in WWII, didn't we?

If they are fluent in English and do not speak broken English, I believe they are treated reasonably well. They are treated even better if they don't try to defend the Muslim cause, because that will harm their creditability, in the eyes of their comrades !

From reading the first part of your question I thought you were looking to compare our Arab soldiers to say..Japanese-American soldiers serving in World War II

but after reading the 2nd part of your question it became clear...... the question is simply racist
