The story of the woman in Bethany and her Alabaster Jar of spiknard. She gave all she had to give because she recognized Jesus for who He truly was. Even the harshest ridicule from the men in the room didn't sway her from publicly worshipping Him. We should all be so brave.

Favorite Bible Stories

I've been working my way up the list of questions in order to finally get to this one. Mainly because I had to think about it.

What i'm finding is that I have as much a problem with this question as I do with "What is your favorite Bible verse."

How exactly does one come up with only one story, or verse?

The story that comes to mind is the story found in John 4. Where Jesus goes to Samaria. And he talks with this woman who is not a Jew, but she is a Samaritan. Jesus knows how she practices infidelity, and how those that live there worship someone they don't know, not God. And yet he stays with them for two days after their conversation. Can you imagine what some of the disciples were going through? With all the 'unclean' things that were going on there. And then Jesus would go to places to be with 'sinners and Publicans'.

I think that by those kinds of stories, Jesus wasn't the prude. He was rightfully called the 'friend of sinners'. And when the Council at Jerusalem happened in Acts 15, all that was forgotten. And James the Legalist stood up and spoke works as righteousness, and everybody there forgot about those days of Samaria with the people who didn't know God, didn't eat according to the law.

That is not the kind of Jesus that would have them be that way, the way they were acting in Acts 15.

Those are my favorite stories because I get to have a glimpse of Jesus that no one else seems to understand. What a friend we have in Jesus!

I heard a story long ago about Jesus making sparrows from a mud puddle, and letting them fly from his hands; and another bringing back to life a friend that broke his neck while they were playing, and being told not to do that again.
Why, I remember these I don't know - innocence?
I am sorry I can't remember more.
I can't remember less popular actual bible stories, except the standards. Why, all I hear is these stories, hard to forget.

Bible story from 2 Chronicles 20:1-30. When 3 armies invade Judah, King Jehoshaphat knew that God would protect his country. He marched the army out to face the enemy led by a choir singing praises to God. But there would be no battle that day. God had already given them the victory!

Where John says he wrote the book to show that Christ is the Messiah and that we should have faith. Also,he said if he had to write all of Jesus' miracles, then he supposes the whole world will not contain it.

Gelfing, has God ever commanded rape in the Bible? I have read the Bible more than two times and I haven't seen anything like that.

Element..., Judges 19 is very hard to understand. But remember, it is written that people did what was good in their eyes.

I LOVE the one about pregnant mary going to visit pregnant elizabeth. About how John lept in her womb because he knew what she carried in her! Because the holy spirit touched John. Well The reason I love it so much was because when I was 7 months pregnant I went to a Joyce Meyer confrence. I was being prayed on by her husband to recieve the Holy spirit, I never did speak in tongues however my son kicked and kicked and I knew he was feeling the same thing John did. I knew it was biblical and I knew then that God had great plans for my baby. I am so Blessed!

Wow I enjoyed sharing that! Haven't thought about that day in a while!

Gosh now that's a challenge, to actually choose which is my favorite. Hm. Hm. *thinks*

I would say my very favorite story in the bible is when Jesus rises from the dead, and reveals Himself to Mary. I think this is so very beautiful and special that He revealed Himself as risen to this woman....and all the men, His disciples, were hiding for fear that day! It is a real honor bestowed on her, and a reward for her faithful service, as she was going specifically to His tomb to anoint His body. But *smile*...there was no need for that, was there!

The whole story of David, because it reminds me of me. David was a man after God's own heart and even though he messed up big time and did some ungodly things he still returned to God, and God accepted him back with now questions asked.
