Gabriel in Jewish theology stands second only to Michael. He is the angel, the heavenly messenger who interprets to Daniel the meaning of his vision of the ram and the goat. He appears four times in the Bible bring messages from the Lord. Twice he appears to Daniel, recorded in Daniel’s 8:15-27, 9:20-27. In the New Testament he appears to announce the birth of John the Baptist in Luke 1:8-20 and the announcement of the birth of Jesus to the Virgin Mary in Luke 1:26-38.

A messenger of God. He appeared to Daniel 8:16; 9:21, to Zechariah Lk 1:11-19, to Mary Lk 1:26-29. Seems like an awesome messenger.

*smile* Gabriel is God's messenger angel. The bible shows him speaking to Daniel, the prophet. He also spoke to Zechariah, about Elizabeth having a son, and to Mary of course, announcing that she would be the mother of Jesus.

In the Bible and the Quran both, he's sort of God's right wing man (pun intended). He's like the lead angel. I don't follow those fairytales, though, and intend to raise my future children to think for themselves. People of both sides can be very nice, but I wouldn't follow their books. There is a lot of hatred even though there is some good in both books.
