As I grow older in age and in my walk with the Lord I find it useless to compare myself to what others have, this has been a process the Lord has brought me through, but I want to know how I can continue to be more content and not so attacched the wordly principles and things of this world. What are good godly ways to achieve this?

"God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied with him."

In my opinion this world is always going to give the individual a hard time. It is wise to find a balance between keeping up with things and spiritual development. You can enjoy the free beauty of all nature and all things but the gas engine machines are roaring all the while. I don't have a happy answer. If YOU find the way, well, let me know.

This is really deep but the bible says "Godliness with contentment is great gain, therefore let us be content with food and raiment (clothes)." Seek after Godliness and seperate yourself from the people and influences that affect your mind. Finally read and follow (put into action) Phillipians 4:6-9 and the God of all peace will keep you mind and stablish your heart through Christ Jesus!

There are a couple of verses from the bible I call my "life" verses. One is, "seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all things will be added to you". The other is Jesus speaking, "he who seeks to keep his life will lose it, but he that loses his life for my sake will find it". I find the more I give up of myself, and what I think I want....and seek the will of God instead, the more fulfilled and truly my "real" self I become.

There is also a scripture in the new testament where Paul is speaking about being content no matter what he has; either in want, or in plenty.

But again, as I've said in some of my other answers to you, the way to truly gain contentment is to be immersed in God's word, in bible study and prayer. That truly shows us what is eternally important, and all that will last; the things that are of Him.

Glad you get inspiration from the Lord, but it's all on you. Just be rational and analyze what you want from what you need. I'm not sure what "godly" means. All I know is that God is good, truth, and love. So just be a nice person and trust in your own abilities, not just His.

A lot of good suggestions there, but if you haven't already, find yourself a good church. There's nothing like having a good bunch of supportive, God-loving believers around you. You'll find lots of other folks disinterested in the ways of the world and living for higher purposes.
And God, so often, uses the people around us to guide us in subtle ways. I never felt so clearly "plugged in" to God as I have since finding a really great church.

First step, ask God and you will receive. Just ask Him to bring that Joy into your life, that your spirit be willing to accept the joy, and you can deny the desires of your flesh and of Satan to rob you of being content.

If you're finding yourself attached to worldly principles and objects, I suggest you meditate on what the book of Romans has to say as well as the book of Ephesians. You have been crucified with Christ, I'm sure you know this, but it needs to move more from your head to your heart.

Expect instant results, but be prepared not to see them. Such growth generally comes through long processes and day by day you will find yourself freed from worldly principles. The more you read Ephesians [Over and over] the more you can be seated with Christ and know in your heart what your salvation has freed you from; not only eternal death, but the desires of the flesh.

Also, seek fellowship with those who encourage you, who provide you with accountability, and help bring joy into your life.
In the end, as you ask and as you seek, the Spirit will reveal to you the truths that need be applied specifically to your life and your circumstances. Never stop seeking. God bless ya =]

Pray pray pray! Ask God for contentment. it does sound though that you are doing this already. If you find yourself envying some one pray for that person. This will help turn the focus away from you. Start a praise book. everyday write a prayer to God listing all the praises for that day. You will see that you are truly blessed! Oh also work with people in need.

"Blessed are the poor, in Spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven." What more could you want?

I am sorry, and not trying to be insensitive, but you are at the point where you are not going to find the answer you seek in writing. The only way to uproot attachment is through prayer and meditation.

God bless.

I have found in my travels that the "How" is less important than the "why".

Why do you want to be not so attached to the worldy principles and things of this world? Once you answer that question, the "How" will become self evident.

Be kind & show understanding & tolerance of all people, no matter what nationality, race, creed, colour or social status. Don't impose your views or beliefs on others.
